To think short of a sexual attacker jumping out of the bushes at midnight being caught on cctv; women will never be believed?

And even then she'll probably be castigated for walking home alone at night perhaps not wearing 'sensible' clothes and shoes?

Forgive my facetiousness but this is now my conclusion based on the commentary I'm reading wrt the Kavanaugh hearing. It's the same old tropes being wheeled out again:

  • Why did she wait this long to come forward
  • They were young; god knows what I got up to when I was a teen etc..
  • She seems credible... but then so does he
  • It's wrong to ruin his life over a he said vs she said squabble
  • She should be over it by now, it's not like her life turned out badly

I'm absolutely sick of it.

There was most definitely a strong undercurrent that pitied Bill Cosby; people genuinely felt sorry for that nice old man who's been put through the wringer.

This has perhaps resurfaced some unpleasant feelings and I can see that it was very naive of me to think the MeToo movement signalled that the tide was turning. It absolutely isn't.

It is, but very slowly, far too slowly.

Remember that up until 1991 it was entirely legal to rape a woman, as long as that woman was your wife. Things have improved thanks to tireless, courageous women who have fought and fought and fought despite constant resistance.

Yes things are shit but they can and do get better.

I agree, it all makes me sick.
I am actually surprised when anyone high profile gets charged (Cosby for example) these days.

He didn’t strike me as remotely credible from what I saw yesterday. Far too much protesting and angling for sympathy. Made my skin crawl.

I 100% believe her.

Credible? Confused She said she doesn't remember when it occurred giving him a chance to see if he was even in the same city at the time.
She said she didn't remember the house or the room or any other single detail.
She said that the only thing she knew for sure was it was him and his friend.
Both men say no such thing occurred. Two OTHER men say it was them not the two she accused.
Giving the benefit of the doubt - witnesses are wrong approximately 80% of the time! Two men say it was them, should have been case closed from the start.
I'm all for believing a woman but in this instance there was no information to believe and the only available information indicates she is mis-remembering at best.

Cosby is sick and glad to see him convicted.
