And even then she'll probably be castigated for walking home alone at night perhaps not wearing 'sensible' clothes and shoes?
Forgive my facetiousness but this is now my conclusion based on the commentary I'm reading wrt the Kavanaugh hearing. It's the same old tropes being wheeled out again:
- Why did she wait this long to come forward
- They were young; god knows what I got up to when I was a teen etc..
- She seems credible... but then so does he
- It's wrong to ruin his life over a he said vs she said squabble
- She should be over it by now, it's not like her life turned out badly
I'm absolutely sick of it.
There was most definitely a strong undercurrent that pitied Bill Cosby; people genuinely felt sorry for that nice old man who's been put through the wringer.
This has perhaps resurfaced some unpleasant feelings and I can see that it was very naive of me to think the MeToo movement signalled that the tide was turning. It absolutely isn't.
