AIBU?
Online article about a thread.

Just been reading a story on Walesonline about the woman who was banned from her sons wedding because she wouldn't wear the clothes the bride wanted her to. Outrageous enough..bride sounds a nightmare of vast proportions but seriously...why would mum agree to local media covering this ? Sure won't help things !

Walesonline scout through threads on here every day and use the stories, the woman didn’t go to the press at all. Makes me wary of posting on here tbh
983newname · 27/09/2018 18:37
I probably see about 6 “news articles” a week on wales online that have been taken from mumsnet :(
daffodillament · 27/09/2018 18:37
Bloody hell ! But there was a picture of the mum and the dress !
NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 27/09/2018 18:38
The press constantly taje stories from here
They dont ask premission
Tahani · 27/09/2018 18:40
She didn't ask them to, that's a model
The dress is real but she posted it here
Posting anonymously to Mumsnet, she said she was happy when her only son got engaged to a girl he had met through work.

The dress was posted on the thread so they probably lifted it I left the thread but maybe there was one of the mother too or maybe it was a stock photo! It happened a lot and in bigger papers than wales online. That's why people try to be very careful about name changing and adjusting thinks so people in real life can't recognise them.
983newname · 27/09/2018 18:41
Yeah as PP said the picture of a woman is a model. I am half tempted to unfollow wales online as the tripe they come out with is shocking , but the other half of me is intrigued to see what they’ll come up with next.
MrsJayy · 27/09/2018 18:42
Loose women This morning victoria derbyshire etc etc all lift stories from here nobody actually goes to the papers anymore it is ridiculous. That woman was having an anon rant about her situation and now it is online elsewhere no doubt it will be on a panel discussing it by Monday
983newname · 27/09/2018 18:43
They posted a news article recently taken from here, of a woman wanting to know if taking a pee in the shower was normal. I couldn’t help but comment on that one anyone could make a newspaper and just take stories from Mumsnet, it really winds me up lol
itswinetime · 27/09/2018 18:45
Indeed and the poor it is discussed the more likely it is it will get back to those involved making a difficult situation 10X worse now. It's a risk everyone posting here should be aware of!
MrsJayy · 27/09/2018 18:46
You have to laugh degree educated journalists just copy and paste 😂
EggysMom · 27/09/2018 18:47
DH has already read out two Mirror online articles this evening which I said "That's from Mumsnet" ....
daffodillament · 27/09/2018 18:51

983newname · 27/09/2018 20:03
The woman in the photo is just a random woman they’ve got from their pile of “random women” photos. It’s so ridiculous
CoughLaughFart · 27/09/2018 20:31
One of my threads once made the Daily Mail. I was so proud.
PattiStanger · 27/09/2018 20:50
Newspapers have been using stories from here for literally years if not a decade or more I'm surprised that you're surprised
NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 27/09/2018 21:10
It literally says The mum says she is upset (picture posed here by a model)(Image: Getty Images) how did you think it was the mum Op?
MissusGeneHunt · 27/09/2018 21:43
I'm just gutted the shitey tabloids didn't quote me advising her to wear a cat-sick yellow dress just to piss Bridezilla off.
Tsk tsk. Why do I bother..... 😉
