to ask how to get files back on my USB for FREE

All files have disappeared from my USB.
They're in there but I can't get at them, don't know why.

There are online websites that will restore USB files but the fee is dear.
Anyone know how to restore files to my USB for free?
Thanks.

When you say they are in there but you can't get at them what do you mean? What happens when you put it into your computer?

Miggeldy · 27/09/2018 15:05

The files don't show at all.
But they are there somewhere. I'd have to pay a lot of money to retrieve them using all the online websites I've tried.

Show hidden files or download a free fipe recovery app OP. You never have to pay.

What is fipe recovery?
I use the USB on my laptop.

if they have been encrypted by malware, then only the correct key will decrypt them. That's the correct key which is available from the scammers after a bitcoin payment Sad

This is why backups are not a dirty word.

if you can't see them, how do you know they actually are "in there"?

Forgive me but you don’t sound very tech literate.

Are you sure you’re using the correct USB?

If so, why do you think there are files on there? Is some of the storage taken up? Is it encrypted and needs a password to access? Is it corrupted? Etc - how do you ‘know they are there somewhere’?

If possible, post screenshots of the errors that you’re receiving. If the files are actually there then it shouldn’t be difficult to access them.

If it literally comes up as empty when you plug it in, and the total storage is completely free then unfortunately the USB stick is probably empty. Either the files were deleted at some point or you used a different USB. You’d only need a recovery program to attempt to recover deleted files.
