MIL has stolen my shoes!

This is not a joke...!

Historically I've had a very difficult relationship with Satan my MIL. DH pops his head in once a week on his way home from work but we otherwise have little to do with the witch. We get on OK when we do see her.

Last week I had to work away and she did massively help us out by popping in and checking on the puppy.... and since then I cannot find my very, very naice pair of wellies that my lovely DM treated me to.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, DH went in to say hi yesterday eve and my wellies were there, neat by my backdoor. He immediately said "are they showjumpers wellies?", she laughed and said "no, of course they're not." DH then said "oh showjumper has lost hers, exactly the same."
She then laughed and commented how absentminded I am!!

(I am but that's not the point!)

With risk of sounding awful, I do not think she would be familiar with the brand and even if she was, she would have the money to spend £300+ on a pair of wellies.

WWYD? All suggestions appreciated Grin

OP, please please please let us know how you get them back before the thread is deleted. I’m emotionally invested in this now!

PS - can’t believe how sensitive some people are about calling her witch etc. Get over it wet rags. 😜

SoyDora · 29/09/2018 08:57

Langpants she’s got them back, read the thread.

Langpants · 29/09/2018 09:30

Whoops! Must’ve lost track of what page I was on. Thanks @SoyDora.

TipseyTorvey · 29/09/2018 16:23

I find it interesting that people are making remarks about £300 for a pair of daily used functional boots but wouldn't bat an eyelid at people spending £1k plus (and the rest) on a wedding dress that's worn for one day. I have cheap shoes that I buy on whim for 'fashion' and expensive ones that I've had for years that no-one would even notice as they're just black leather boots but SO comfortable.

whatnametouse · 29/09/2018 18:28

@biddypop. Sorels are good in snow - I live in Switzerland so spend weekend skiing and they keep your feet dry / warm and you don’t slip in them so much (judging you uggs! 😂).

Would like a pair that are a bit more able to handle going into town etc so thinking the leather dubarry boots might work - fed up with buying boots then them falling to bits in a year due to rain / snow / salt / heat drying them out

CrazyDaisy2018 · 29/09/2018 19:22

I haven't clicked on any of the links but am now getting Le Chambeau adverts on my fb app! Bloody sneaky adverts!

mamahanji · 29/09/2018 19:24

What name

I work in a ski shop and we love sorel boots. Also Keen have a really lovely winter boots range which I live in in England and when skiing.

And if you are inclined towards something a bit more out fancy, Oscar boots are incredibly hard wearing and warm but very pretty.

MawkishTwaddle · 29/09/2018 19:24

Oh shut up Susannah.

MawkishTwaddle · 29/09/2018 19:25

Sorry! Wrong thread!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/09/2018 19:27

I love my Sorels.

Uggs are filed under 'slut wellies' in our house. DP lives in his, yuk! Hmm

whatnametouse · 29/09/2018 19:38

I have a pair of those Oscar boots - but they are a few years old now and shedding everywhere - what with them and the cats black jeans are a no go 😂.

MissMisery · 30/09/2018 15:27

What is it about becoming a MIL that makes women turn batshit?
Mine once presented my 3yo day with an empty box for Xmas. Then got annoyed when he was upset.
Apparently she thought he’d like it because it had a snowman on the top....

MissMisery · 30/09/2018 15:28

3yo DS obv...

BiddyPop · 01/10/2018 11:07

I don't know who accused me of wearing Ugg wellies - but let them be shot on sight!

I was asking about snow boots as my current Ecco ones are neither terribly comfortable nor practical, but my hiking boots don't quite cut it when there is any depth of snow lying on the ground.

ratherbeshowjumping · 04/10/2018 16:06

No one in RL has found this so thought I'd update on DSatan's latest antics.

It's my birthday in a few weeks. I had a missed call from her this morning, uncharacteristic as apart from a text to say thanks for popping in on the puppy, we don't speak.

Called her back, said she was calling to ask plans for my birthday... it's not a big birthday and I'm not one of those people who make a deal out of it so was a bit Confused It falls on a Sunday this year so I said that plans for the weekend would be me working for most of Saturday then preparing for a competition on the Sunday, DH & I are going for dinner on the Saturday eve with some friends & going to the show the next day.

She asked if we wanted to come for lunch at hers on the Sunday instead of "dragging DH to a show". I felt my blood pressure rising but calmly said that DH was looking forward to watching a young horse that we have at his first "proper" competition, a horse that I'm jumping for a client & my main horse... she said, "I'm sure he doesn't" but left it & that was that.

No mention of the wellies Hmm but thought maybe the witch is trying to be nice so gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Anyway, just had a phone call from DH.
Him: "just had a call from DM, are we not going to the show on your birthday?"
Me: "yes we are, why?"
Him: "she's told me that you've decided against going & we're going to spend the day at DPs?"
Me: HmmConfused

Honestly, give me strength......!

She's dementing.

Aprilislonggone · 04/10/2018 16:09

Next time you see her ywnbu to take an afore mentioned welly and smack her round the chops with it. ..
And enjoy the show - you AND dh!!

BIgBagofJelly · 04/10/2018 16:11

I was appalled that someone I knew spent £200 on wellies, but I've gone through three £20 pairs in the last year because they've all developed holes, she's had hers for years so maybe she's onto something.

ratherbeshowjumping · 04/10/2018 16:28

@Aprilislonggone - that was my next question but I'm glad you cleared it up GrinGrin

Blimey, sounds like she was born with a wooden spoon for stirring doesn't it! Get DH to post lots of pictures of you both really enjoying being at the show on his Facebook page so she can see it, stir some shit right back!

CrazyDaisy2018 · 04/10/2018 16:50

"Get DH to post lots of pictures of you both really enjoying being at the show on his Facebook page so she can see it, stir some shit right back!"

And make a point of wearing your boots in said photos!!

RandomMess · 04/10/2018 17:12

She really is a bit nuts! What is your DH response about her latest lies Confused

Soubriquet · 04/10/2018 17:16

Wow...she really doesn’t like you does she? Grin

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 04/10/2018 17:23

Sorry, haven't got time to read all the way through ... read the first day. Did she take your posh wellies ? And have you got them back yet ?
