Is he going to care?

jofeb04 · 11/06/2007 17:01

Imp, yes! I often use xmas paper, but it's not really obv!

dustystar · 11/06/2007 17:01

He won't know that so don't worry about it.

edam · 11/06/2007 17:01

No, YANBU. My mother's birthday is just after Christmas and she is still scarred by growing up being given one present 'for Christmas and your birthday' in Christmas wrapping paper. My sister and I are VERY careful about wrapping paper. Even worse in bloody June!

perpetuaphoenixfire · 11/06/2007 17:01

pfb?

dustystar · 11/06/2007 17:03

I don't know Edam. I think its more important when yourbirthday is close to Christmas that it is made to be a seperate celebration as otherwise it gets overshadowed by the Christmas stuff. No chance of that happening in June.

kittylette · 11/06/2007 17:03

i could understand if it were DS1s birthday (Dec 13th) but june??

Why would anyone even have xmas paper in june??

If it is gloves and a scarf, then fairly inappropriate, as would be a Christmas bauble. But wrapping paper...not worth getting too excited about imo.

BrothelSprouts · 11/06/2007 17:04

YABU.
He won't even know.
And at least he's got a present to open.

kittylette · 11/06/2007 17:04

Its just weird

I could never do it, so I guess its just unreasonable to me!

WigWamBam · 11/06/2007 17:05

Wouldn't bother me - I'd just assume that the person realised at the last minute that s/he didn't have any gift wrap, and so had wrapped it in Christmas paper rather than just give it to you in a plastic bag. Which would presumably have been even more irritating!

Chill ... not worth getting het up over, imo.

flightattendant · 11/06/2007 17:05

I wouldn't use obvious Christmas paper, just seems to indicate a lack of care over it...

I know it won't matter too much to a tiny boy but I know what you mean...and some people are just very disorganised, so I'd take that into account...it probably wasn't important to them, which makes a difference.

In other words just different standards but not meant to insult.

madmarchhare · 11/06/2007 17:06

yes

OrmIrian · 11/06/2007 17:06

Yes you are a bit. He won't care. And better than not getting a present, or one that wasn't wrapped. Babies just like coloured paper. They don't care if is has snowmen on it, or balloons.

dustystar · 11/06/2007 17:06

My mum was always disorganised about this stuff when we were kids and often resorted to using tin foil

kittylette · 11/06/2007 17:07

and its winnie the pooh to add insult to injury! lol

OP posts:
NKF · 11/06/2007 17:07

Are you peeved?

tortoiseSHELL · 11/06/2007 17:08

I've used xmas wrapping paper for birthdays all day round - the kids don't care. The reason is generally that we've got loads left over from xmas and I forget to get any birthday in time, or think we've got some and we don't. Figure it's more important to get the present wrapped and delivered.

belgo · 11/06/2007 17:09

yabu. He won't notice. At least they made the effort to get him a present on time.

kittylette · 11/06/2007 17:09

Yeah I am,

but maybe Im judging others by my standards, i like bows & ribbons and pretty paper - paper appropriate to the occasion!

OP posts:
belgo · 11/06/2007 17:09

oh yes would be annoyed at winnie the poo wrapping paper

NKF · 11/06/2007 17:10

But even if he did notice, he wouldn't be peeved would he? You'd just think "oh look it's Christmas paper" and open the present.

WigWamBam · 11/06/2007 17:11

Your son won't give two hoots about paper and bows and pretty ribbons. He'll only tear it to pieces, when all said and done.

At least they bought him a present ... if they hadn't bothered, maybe there would have been cause for complaint.

kslatts · 11/06/2007 17:11

I wouldn't mind if someone sent my dd's a birthday present in xmas paper, but I would never use xmas paper to wrap up someone's birthday present.

NKF · 11/06/2007 17:14

I wouldn't mind if someone gave me a present wrapped in Christmas paper.
