My dp only been at job for 3m and given uniform if t-shirts and jumper s. Today he received his pay, payslip and more uniform but noticed an invoice deducting pay for this uniform. He asked them for trousers and a hat, received these along t-shirts, jumpers and a coat which he didnt ask for!
Does he bite his lip as this is a new company he's with? Checked contract an it states only pay for uniform that they have to replace. First lot you get for nothing. This is a small business with limited staff

I’d query it.

If it says in the contract that the first uniform is provided, and the employee only has to pay for replacement items then yes he should question it.

I don't think it's right, but for info, I think you can apply for this money back from hmrc plus extra to cover regular laundering of uniform... If that payment still exists.
