What a ridiculous name - and what brazen faces both mother and daughter have!

Starlight345 · 25/09/2018 09:15

There clearly was failings from parents school and a very sneaky 9 year old . ... The last thing I would be doing is putting the blame of the school in the paper giving dd an opt out . .. my Ds would be in so much trouble if he did this and yes I would be speaking to the school too but at 9 she would of known what she was doing was wrong.

KennDodd · 25/09/2018 09:17

I feel really sad for that kid, she obviously really wanted to go but wasn't allowed for some reason?

Oblomov18 · 25/09/2018 09:19

Sad for the kid?
She doesn't exactly look sad and devastated, does she?

HesterMacaulay · 25/09/2018 09:21

And what's with all the vile snobbery about the child's name?

SnuggyBuggy · 25/09/2018 09:21

I hate all kreatyve names 😁

DancingDot · 25/09/2018 09:24

Poor teachers nothing. Yes the girl was absolutely in the wrong to get on the bus - BUT she would not have been able to do that if the teachers had followed theeeeee most basic of safeguarding procedures and simply COUNTED!! It's not particularly complicated. A head count would have been sufficient..and if they were feeling particularly fancy they could have a list of the children who were attending the trip and ticked them off as they got on the bus. There lack of a headcount meant that any child could have been left behind.

What a ridiculous name - and what brazen faces both mother and daughter have Not really the point of the story though eh MilkTray . Disgusting classism on MN today.

DancingDot · 25/09/2018 09:29

There clearly was failings from parents school and a very sneaky 9 year old Not really sure what the Mum in this story has done wrong...except maybe being working class??? Hmm

Starlight345 · 25/09/2018 09:35

The parent took child to school with a bag full of clothes . How did they not notice ?

HildaWazzo · 25/09/2018 09:37

I can’t believe the other kids didn’t tell the teachers she was on the coach straight away. When I was at primary school you couldn’t do anything without a chorus of ‘ammm.... telling on you!’. Probably showing my age there though.

DancingDot · 25/09/2018 09:42

My children both have ginormous rucksacks that are full of shit...I don't look in their bags. They have separate homework bags that i check for letters, invitations etc, but their manky rucksacks are all theirs. Besides, I could probably squish a pair of leggings and a top into my smallest of handbags. I remember doing it in high school when I wanted to dog it with my pals. More than probable Mum didn't have a clue.

DancingDot · 25/09/2018 09:43

Hilda They musn't have known she wasn't supposed to be there, because there would defo have been one who would have told on her!

OliviaStabler · 25/09/2018 09:49

When I was 14 I sneaked from North Wales to Manchester to go to a Marilyn Manson concert. It was awesome. This kid will go far in the world. Hopefully further than Mold anyway

😂😂😂

PrivateDoor · 25/09/2018 09:49

All very strange. Not sure a head count could totally prevent this either - thinking of the head count in home alone here haha - if another child was late a headcount would still have shown the right number. I feel so sorry for the staff who were doing their best to give the kids a nice trip - and probably won't want to do it again after this Sad

Don't get me wrong, I would be horrified if this happened to one of my children, but I would be more cross with the child than the school I think (hard to be sure when not the one in the situation!).

FishCanFly · 25/09/2018 09:49

its not cool to be a grass

minisoksmakehardwork · 25/09/2018 09:55

The girl looks more pissed that she was caught. Even if the school did a headcount the girl is clearly clever enough to have thought about it to try and avoid it. Her parents didn't have any inkling of her Oman's.

She had inside help though, from friends who didn't blow her cover. They might have covered her with coats while the staff checked all the children were wearing their seatbelts. She might have been hidden in the toilet (thus avoiding a headcount completely).

While the school should be held accountable for not following correct procedures and not doing a headcount, no one comes out of this well.

DancingDot · 25/09/2018 09:58

But there's always one Grin

Tomatoesrock · 25/09/2018 09:59

The DM is totally unreasonable. If she was dragged onto the bus but at 9 she knew what she was doing.

My DD same age would never have the bottle to do that.

CaMePlaitPas · 25/09/2018 10:00

@TittyGolightly Grin

HesterMacaulay · 25/09/2018 10:02

That is totally misplaced sentiment. Educational trips are part and parcel of school. I know plenty of teachers who would happily never do one again, but this scenario would not be the reason.
The teachers failed to carry basic safeguarding procedures which are designed specifically to prevent children from coming to harm (as far as possible)
The thinking takes place before the trip - i.e. a risk assessment. And procedures are put in place that should simply be followed on the day. Head counts are about the most basic of these. As I said before, the school were fortunate that it wasn't a much more serious outcome.

DunkerOfSussex · 25/09/2018 10:04

Also hideous made up name.

Do people need to be such total cunts about a child? When this little girl or her friends see the media hype and google her, this is what she will see, adults taking the piss. The story is not about her name ffs.

All names are "made up". A non made up one means someone made it up before. So you have an unoriginal made up name. Well done.

School are completely at fault not much you can say beyond that except of course she wanted to go and it's quite unfair if she couldn't afford to go.

Hoppinggreen · 25/09/2018 10:05

Anyone who appears in the papers doing a sad compo face is in the wrong as far as I’m concerned

moomoo85 · 25/09/2018 10:06

The girl should be significantly told off and punished as at the age of 9 she would have known what she was doing was wrong. School do need to look into their management of school trips and safe guarding. Mum is being attention seeking by going to the media about it.

Booie09 · 25/09/2018 10:14

Wonder why she was not allowed on the trip in the 1st place?
