AIBU to be annoyed with our car dealership?

We put an order in for a brand new AUTOMATIC car in June at this particular very well known car dealership. Straightforward order with a few add ons and were told the average wait is 3 months - all good, what we expected.

A few days ago we are told the car has been manufactured and has arrived in the country and after checks etc is ready for collection Tuesday this week.

To make sure we have funds for deposit ready, we sold one of our existing cars to another company that we were getting a better offer from rather than part exchange.

This evening we get a call from dealership saying the car they have ordered is infact a manual car and that they've cocked up and very embarrassed.

AIBU to think that this is their mistake and we are now left with one car down. And that they are responsible for providing a loan car etc while they order the correct car (take another 3 months)?

Yep. Absolutely should be getting you a replacement car in the mean time. If they've confirmed the date and now have rescinded on that then they should do the decent thing.

Yes definitely. I ordered a factory build car which kept on being delayed and I'd committed to trading mine and was worried I wouldn't get the price I was offered. The dealer offered me a car until mine arrived, which I gratefully accepted.

Yes I really am hoping they offer a loan vehicle as we would be lost without a second car.
On the phone he offered us £1000 off the price of the manual. But we don't want that car at all and think that offer is really poor considering we are now left in the lurch.
