Just got into my car to do the school run-(not parked right outside) , glanced at my front door and see a man standing there, stared at him while he put out his cigarette in the ashtray my ds keeps tucked beside a plant pot!! Then he walked off!!
Speechless tbh!!
Who has been your cf today?

I was walking and halfway over the zebra crossing the other day and a car came from nowhere fast and didn't stop or slow up and almost run me over. 😡

elQuintoConyo · 24/09/2018 22:10

Not today, but when i was in my first trimestre DMil died of Alzheimers, she'd had it 10+ years. It was horrific. DH was in bits. I was having shocking pains, thought i was going to mc. DMil died just before the Easter holidays and CF "friend" asked if i'd babysit her two dc (2yo and 5yo) for the Easter holidays. But that was ok - because she was going to pay me. I just flat out turned her down, then blocked her on all SM. I live in a small town with a small 'expat' community Grin i love seeing her around. Not.

GiantKitten · 24/09/2018 22:13

Prince Andrew for demanding we fork out £2m for his DD's wedding

He has done no such thing. We always pay the security bill for royal weddings. Some MPs are saying he should pay the security bill for Eugenie's wedding or she should have a less public wedding involving fewer celebrities but he hasn't demanded anything. At worst, those organising the wedding have assumed that the normal security arrangements should apply Nope. The actual wedding could all be contained within the castle, but Eugenie wants an open carriage ride through Windsor, like Harry & Meghan, so that the adoring multitudes can cheer her. That’s what the £2m security is for Hmm

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 24/09/2018 22:46

God does she? I don’t think she’s going to get quite the crowds that Harry did. Grin

YouTheCat · 24/09/2018 22:57

She's deluded.

greatbigwho · 24/09/2018 23:00

At the station picking up my husband, I stopped to let someone pull out of a space so I could park up.

Car in front bloody REVERSED back, then around me, and as the car pulled out, swung in to the fucking space. That was my space!!

@fromage Grin

MediocrePenguin · 24/09/2018 23:43

@silvercuckoo I would have thought they couldn't go and so decided to pass the tickets (wrongly) onto friends!

They weren't their tickets to give away so deffo CF x

dinosaurkisses · 25/09/2018 00:01

@silvercuckoo Do you think there’s a possibility that family do such “weird” things because you never pull them up on it?

EK36 · 25/09/2018 00:13

@silvercuckoo your friends had probably passed then onto friends to save wasting them! They probably didn't know you would be able to get a refund.

DeusEx · 25/09/2018 00:17

Have been at home sick in bed all day and so interacted with no one (bar my nasty piece of work mother via text, and my equally ill husband) - this has brightened a bed day!

sallysparrow157 · 25/09/2018 00:35

My friend worked with our laziest colleague yesterday. Lazy colleague asked if my friend would cover for her to finish a couple of hours early, because she was working the next day. My friend obliged. Today lazy colleague (not realising I know she skived off yesterday) manages to negotiate herself into finishing 4 hours early today as she worked the weekend. To be fair, she did the sum total of no work whatsoever today or yesterday so she wasn’t exactly missed!

ReanimatedSGB · 25/09/2018 00:56

With the £5k painting - is it possible that whoever took that had no idea it was worth that much money? I'm not sure I would be able to tell the difference between a valuable painting and something knocked up by someone's great grandma - or toddler, tbh.

SalemBlackCat · 25/09/2018 04:25

@silvercuckoo From experience, the more well off someone is, the more tighter and CF they are with money.

RevRichardWayneGaryWayne · 25/09/2018 08:34

@Dustarr73
"@Rudezebra what is it then.I wouldnt count a 5 grand painting as a small keepsake.Would you?"

Unfortunately @Rudezebra is right in the eyes of the law as “small keepsake” is open to interpretation. As long as they’re willing to stand up in court and say “yes I consider that a small keepsake” they’re fine.

Similar happened to someone I know – I’ll be vague as it’s potentially outing and not really my story but long story short an elderly person trusted a relative with their credit card to get weekly shopping for them. They used the card to buy loads of shopping, clothes, a new vacuum etc for themselves. As they had been told they could use the card to “get a few bits for themselves” they got off scot free after the police were called. The intention was clearly that they could grab things like bread and milk and put it on the card rather than doing a separate transaction and they massively took the piss, but legally they couldn’t be touched as it wasn't specified clearly.

FinallyHere · 25/09/2018 09:54

It's hard to not take people for granted if they are always willing to help when asked.

@MyShinyWhiteTeeth

This I just do not understand. I can see it's easy to assume they will help, when they always have before but surely the onus is on you, who are asking , to check that it works. It would be the end of the favours for me, not to teach you a lesson but because I will not be taken for granted.

This message is obviously meant for the CF in my life. I no longer enjoy interacting with GRDN because I have to be so guarded, just to make sure they haven't misunderstood and thought I have agreed to something (else). It's exhausting.

StrangeLookingParasite · 25/09/2018 09:59

Eugenie wants an open carriage ride through Windsor, like Harry & Meghan, so that the adoring multitudes can cheer her.

I think she may be in for a great disappointment there.

Talith · 25/09/2018 10:00

I found a special edition 50p in my change and had a look on eBay to see if it was worth flogging. The chancers out there are astonishing. Asking for several thousand pounds with gushing descriptions about how rare it is etc. when a quick check shows that the same coin changes hands for a few quid at best, generally.

DancingDot · 25/09/2018 10:04

Car in front bloody REVERSED back, then around me, and as the car pulled out, swung in to the fucking space. That was my space!!

Someone did this to me a couple of weeks ago. So i parked horizontally behind them and when they go out of their car I said "You knew fine well I was going to park there so now I hope you're not in a hurry because I'm off and who knows when I'll be back" (actually was just picking up child from friend's house and would have been approx 2 mins). They very sheepishly said they would move and so they did. I'm not normally confrontational but I had actually waited for about ten minutes for the space and when she zipped in behind me I thought fuck it.

sashh · 25/09/2018 10:11

I was a cf this morning.

I order wine online. There have been ups and downs over deliveries but things settled down a year or two ago.

I had a case delivered and some of the screw tops I couldn't undo so I contacted then to say I was having to take a knife to them.

They are checking the bottles and sending me a bottle opening gadget. I've asked for some wine to try the gadget out on.

steppemum · 25/09/2018 10:19

silvercuckoo, please call her out on it, please text her and say that you tried ot refund the tickets and were told that they had already been refunded, 'so glad you managed to refund, could you let me have my £100 as soon as you can'

Laureline · 25/09/2018 11:25

So today I’m queuing outside the French consulate in Lisbon to get ID papers for DD2.

As you can imagine, there are barriers in front of the consulate to prevent cars parking there for security.

A lady has just stepped out of her car, dragged one if the barriers away, and parked. She is now arguing with the guard. Grin

Talith · 25/09/2018 11:27

Ohhh I forgot to add all the idiotic parents who park on the zig zags outside the school every single sodding morning.

Chelsea26 · 25/09/2018 11:53

My husband and I are separated but still living together at the moment - mostly civil but last week he asked me to take the boys and stay at mum and dad’s one night as he wouldn’t get to see his girlfriend otherwise. I was a bit inconvenienced but said I would to keep the peace.

He’s just asked me to do the same this week - basically decamp from my own house with the two kids so he can have sex!!

I told him to get a fucking hotel (that’s what I do!)

DonttouchthatLarry · 25/09/2018 11:57

In defence of silvercuckoo's friend - if the tickets were supposed to be non-refundable (and the refund was only offered as a goodwill gesture once you asked) maybe she passed them on to someone else to save wasting the £100?

  • disclaimer - not the CF friend Grin
