Bonfire Spice Latte... the smell promises the same amazing experience as Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice but the taste is like stinging vile tooth medicine.

Why was this considered a good thing?

Is it anything like a chai latte? Recently tried this and everyone thinks they smell like medicine but I'm really liking them at the min

Hippyshubby · 23/09/2018 19:38

Chai is lovely... this is like drinking clove oil mixed with mouthwash

I will avoid lol 😂

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 23/09/2018 20:41

No idea about the latte, but DH and the DDs, after taking the dog for a walk v early yesterday morning, called and asked me if I wanted a Costa hot chocolate and a newspaper, delivered to me in bed! On a Saturday! Yes flipping please! Only it’s a Costa Bonfire hot chocolate. Bloody disgusting. I didn’t have the heart to tell them.

Sexykitten2005 · 23/09/2018 20:43

I like them

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 23/09/2018 20:44

Why don’t they let you have a little sip before they rob you of your cash and you feel like you have to drink it because you’ve paid for it even if it’s vile?! I want to try one of these but I’m scared I’ll be disappointed and coffeeless.

Hippyshubby · 23/09/2018 23:15

See... I avoided the Pumpkin one for years because of fear of being let down. I always scan the whole Chinese menu and make a dozen picks that if love to try... before having the curry because I don't want to be let down. I felt brave today and the one time I do... I feel betrayed.

Mmmmm chai latte....

misses point of thread

Girlicorne · 23/09/2018 23:42

I had a bonfire latte today for the first time and am undecided if I liked it or not, the barista did let me sniff the syrup first!! Was annoyed they only come in small and still cost £3.50 though!! Personally cannot wait for the Christmas menu, salted caramel latte is the best!!!

HelenaDove · 24/09/2018 01:02

i like the Kaspas Desserts caramel latte. Lovely £2.50

Hippyshubby · 24/09/2018 02:13

Battista! Battista! I got it from the vending machine. Shot of sludge then all water. I remember when a latte was called milky coffee and an Americano was just a black coffee... kids these days... Angry

Bloody auto correct! Barrista, barrista!

I've either spelt it so horribly wrong that I'm not even close or my phone is a fuddy duddy like me that struggles to give a posh name to the bloke who makes my coffee...

ALemonyPea · 24/09/2018 07:42

There in lies your error then op. It wasn’t a real latte then. I like the bonfire hot chocolate, lovely.

MaisyPops · 24/09/2018 07:42

I'm undecided on it.
A spicier version of chai latte is what I was expecting but it had a strong hint of Smokey cloves which I couldn't decide how I felt about it.

RibenaMonsoon · 24/09/2018 07:43

I remember one Christmas they did a black forest hot chocolate. The best thing I've ever drunk! I really hope they bring it back one day!

Will avoid the spice latte. Thank you for the tip :)

proudestofmums · 24/09/2018 07:47

Slightly off the point but I always thought Americans were black coffee so why am I always asked if want milk? and even if people do want a splash of milk why am I still asked if I want milk when I ask, to try to avoid this question, for a black Americano? I can only suppose, charitably, that since I only go in to a coffee shop before work at around 7.45 am that they're On autopilot!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 24/09/2018 07:48

I think if you dont like costa will give you a new one

They used to anyway...might be worth asking

(it might just be the coffee they do that with)

proudestofmums · 24/09/2018 07:48

Sorry - americanos were black coffee! I’m not comparing citizens of the USA to a hot drink!

ShatnersBassoon · 24/09/2018 07:54

I had the bonfire hot chocolate at the weekend and thought it was quite nice.

ShatnersBassoon · 24/09/2018 07:58

An Americano is just a diluted espresso, so yes, it arrives as a black coffee. You can add milk or cream to it if you want to, or leave it black.

FuzzyPenguin · 24/09/2018 07:59

RibenaMonsoon the Black Forest chocolate is coming back, end of November time. I asked the other day as I love it.

kaldefotter · 24/09/2018 07:59

I remember the Black Forest hot chocolate- it was awesome. You need The Monin Blackberry syrup and cherry syrup to recreate it; no need to wait for Costa to bring it back.

cdtaylornats · 24/09/2018 08:07

Easy solution just drink coffee - not a vaguely coffee flavoured soft drink.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 24/09/2018 08:09

I like the bonfire spice latte better than Starbucks pumpkin spiced latte, looks like I might be the only one.

summeraupair · 24/09/2018 08:12

I had it the other day too and was so disappointed! Chucked four sugars in and it made it at least vaguely palatable, won't be getting it again though.
