AIBU to ask how much hair & beauty treatments cost?

My DH is an accountant and runs his own firm in the small market town near to where we live. He is an accountant for a few of the local business including the hair and beauty salon where I go. DH has an agreement with the owner, Michelle, that she sends the bills for my hair and beauty treatments to him at his work email – she does this monthly so I don’t get to see them – we have separate accounts and DH pays money to my account monthly but he picks up the bill for my hair and beauty treatments. When I ask Michelle (out of interest) how much it is she says she doesn’t know as she’s not worked it out and when I ask DH he says he has not read the email or something – he never moans about the cost. It doesn’t really matter as I can get an idea from the website but it would be nice to know the exact amount sometimes. I like Michelle as I have been going to her salon for a long time so she knows what I like and she always fits me in (I get special treatment) and she has done home visits for DD and her friends when going to the school prom and at other times when there have been special occasions so all this is probably something and nothing really.

Sounds like he's not charging her for her accounts and she's in return not charging you for your hair etc

Are there no price lists? In store or on the website? I am amazed you have no idea how much the treatments cosy

Fireworks91 · 23/09/2018 18:20

Thanks for replies, I do know the prices from the website but not told specifically - the prices are not dissimilar to Duchess Thingy's salon. Hadn't thought that maybe he doesn't charge for his accounting services in exchange for the treatments - that may be it and it would make sense. DH is very, very cleaver with money and would be typical of something he would do.

This all sounds very odd. You don't know how much your own treatments are, but even if you sat down with a pricelist and added it up you still wouldn't be sure? She should be able to tell you, how do you know she isn't ripping your husband off?

Charlotte48 · 25/09/2018 18:54

Of course I can work it out the cost of the treatments from the website etc but sometimes the prices might vary if having my hair cut and coloured or there's a promotion but that's not the issue. The issue is that I don't get to see the bill, probably as, has been said my DH, has a deal whereby he does free accounting - he trusts Michelle - there's no reason why he wouldn't and he is very clever with money so I am sure he knows what she charges too and he wouldn't be ripped off.

I’m puzzled as to what your issue is. You seem to be asking how much treatments are, without specifying which ones, and are now saying you have access to a price list. Surely the price list answers all your questions. You also mention special offers but they are likely to be advertised publicly otherwise how can people avail themselves of them.

Are you sure you’ve not just come on to stealth boast that you get however many free salon trips per month and that your husband is “very, very clever with money”?

Littlechocola · 25/09/2018 19:11

I think it’s lovely!
Your husband sounds lovely.

AwkwardPaws27 · 25/09/2018 19:18

Seems a little bit odd that your husband wouldn't just say that's the deal though; why not just say that you get your regular treatments in exchange for his accountancy services?

Charlotte48 · 30/09/2018 18:06

I don't know, that's what I wonder too.

It does seem a bit strange, what if you stopped going or started having lots and lots of treatments? Surely there a limit and they must have discussed parameters? Seems strange he hasn't mentioned it.
