Can you help me find a tall cardboard storage box to keep my wrapping paper rolls in?

I have lots of half-used rolls of wrapping paper and would like to keep them upright in a tall storage box in the corner of a room. Something the height of an umbrella storage bin would be perfect, though with a square or rectangular base, cardboard rather than plastic, and relatively smart looking. Anyone seen anything like that?

Does it absolutely have to be cardboard? You can get a Really Useful box which is specifically designed for storing rolls of wrapping paper.

Why don't you go into somewhere like card factory and see if they have any empty display boxes?

Whywifi · 23/09/2018 09:57

Thanks I've seen the Really Useful box, and it's for horizontal not vertical storage. And yes, I prefer cardboard.

They sell plain packer's tall cardboard boxes on Amazon but I couldn't find them in ones only multiples, but that's an option you could cover it in fabric of your choice perhaps? Actually there is a single one but high p&p charge for it. Anyway, here. www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?tag=mumsnetforum-21&url=search-alias%3Dkitchen&field-keywords=tall+cardboard+box

Ikea have a box esp for this purpose with space at top for ribbon/scissors etc. I bought it, my DH laughed because it was another when in Ikea but something random purchase but he is now convinced! It’s amazing and so tidy! X

GummyGoddess · 23/09/2018 11:09

What Ikea box is that? I have my wrapping paper in one of the carrier bag holders on the back of a door with a basket under it, held on by command strip hooks, where all my tape and ribbons are.

I used my old handheld dyson box. Could you not alter an existing cardboard box to make it suitable?

Rainatnight · 23/09/2018 11:11

I was coming on to make livinglavidal0ca's suggestion. It will change your life. Just stick it up somewhere it won't be seen. I've have mine on the back of the under-stairs door.

Bluewidow · 23/09/2018 11:27

I can't even believe this is a thing. You guys have too much wrapping paper.

Whywifi · 23/09/2018 11:45

Yes too much wrapping paper, it's true!EFT over from Christmas mostly, with some birthday paper thrown in.

We recently moved house. Our removals firm did the whole packing thing without breaking a single glass. But they can't have been trained up on wrapping paper, because they folded all the rolls in half to fit them into a box !!!

Livinglavidal0ca, yes, I do like that. Thanks.

Whoops, sorry for the ridiculous long link!

Ginkypig · 23/09/2018 12:31

I was just going to suggest that amiable.

Iv got about 10-15 rolls in it and I keep ribbon, pen, labels, scissors, bows in the top section.

I know it's not cardboard but Iv had it for 5 years(ish) now and it's still going strong, unless something dramatic happens I assume il still be using it in in another 5 years so in terms of the environment I think because it lasts so many years (which means not replacing it regularly) it balances out a bit?

Gardenpicnic · 23/09/2018 13:13

I have 2 of these (one for birthday, one for Christmas), they are fab, can be hung on hooks too.

Why not buy a lovely vintage umbrella stand? If it's somewhere in plain sight, it needs to be nice to look at and fit in with your decor.

Almondio · 23/09/2018 13:48

Holy crap that Ikea holder is a thing of beauty! Who knew?

theWarOnPeace · 23/09/2018 13:51

I use the cylindrical plastic thing from Ikea that is supposed to be for plastic bags. Holds wrapping paper perfectly and I’ve clipped a caribener on for scissors and sellotape. Makes me sounds freakishly organised, but it just sort of fell into place when I stopped using the plastic bag holder for its original purpose.

fourquenelles · 23/09/2018 14:47

My DSis bought a vintage baguette box from Ebay for her wrapping paper storage. It looks very cool.

Knittedfairies · 23/09/2018 15:03

I have the Really Useful Box for storing wrapping paper, and it stands upright. (Not by itself, but wedged in a cupboard)
