I don't get why people stockpile cleaning stuff! I have 1 bottle Zoflora, 1 bleach , 1 Mr Muscle bathroom cleaner, 1 Mr Muscle window cleaner, 1 bottle of fairy liquid! Would rather have money sitting in my bank instead of my cupboard.

This is really interesting on Consumer Protection.

CMA's Senior Director for Consumer Protection said,

"If celebrities or influencers are posting about a product on social media, they must make it clear if they've been paid to promote it, or have been gifted, loaned a product or thanked in some other way by a brand. No one should be left thinking that a Tweet or Instagram post is just the person's opinion when it's not.

VerbeenaBeeks · 26/10/2018 00:07

Hinch defenders, why are you taking the discussion so personally? Everyone is entitled to have an opinion, in the same way people could unfollow Mrs Hinch, you could also avoid this thread

I've said all along that I like Mrs Hinch, why is nobody allowed to post anything positive without snideness or the discussion getting personal?
I don't want to avoid the thread. There should be room for everyone on here without it descending into being 5 year olds in the playground.

Peaches100 · 26/10/2018 00:21

Verbeena - What are your views on consumer protection? Any thoughts?

Mummyofsiz · 26/10/2018 00:23

@anitagreen no problem at all. Ask away :)
I didn’t see it as OCD, it’s only when I got married and moved in with my husband that he pointed out that it was not normal behaviour. I had a slightly different type of OCD. Every night before bed, I had to check all windows in the house. I would have to lock and unlock the front door several times. I would go around the house double checking the light switches and oven cooker and appliances. If I did not do that I could not possibly sleep. Years later after purchasing our first home and having my first child, this OCD turned into a cleaning compulsion disorder. I would have a very strict cleaning schedule and daily rituals.
If I did not do that I would not sleep or go out and consider was afraid of my child touching germs. I went to my GP and she referred me to therapy. After several sessions it turned out that my problem was deep rooted in my childhood where my parents House was broken into so this OCD stemmed from there. They usually have serveral sessions to find the root of the problem then they talk about steps in over coming it. It’s all in the mind. I’m much better now and feel so much more free in life and at home rather then being trapped in my mind telling me I have to do this and that

Mummyofsiz · 26/10/2018 00:29

In short the therapy sessions helped me escape that mind set and made me realise it’s ok if there is dishes in the sink or germs in the house. I cannot explain it but they make you realise that it’s all in the head and it’s your mind controlling you. They gave me
weekly tasks and steps to do and slowly I found my self free. It still creeps up on me now and again but I can fight it. Thank god for the NHS lol

That’s why I mentioned this issue. I really hope I do not come across as mean or hateful as that is not my intention when I mention Mrs Hinch exhibits some traits. She may not have OCD, I am not a doctor nor do I live with her. But it’s healthy to discuss these topics

VerbeenaBeeks · 26/10/2018 00:36

Peaches100 Verbeena - What are your views on consumer protection? Any thoughts?

Sorry, could you expand? It's vair late (early? depending on your viewpoint lol) and I've had wine to boot Grin want to answer though.

Peaches100 · 26/10/2018 00:39

Mummyofsiz - you do not come across as mean or hateful, AT ALL.

Your come across as honest & your experience will probably help others. Thanks for sharing Flowers

VerbeenaBeeks · 26/10/2018 00:42

Sorry, just seen this post after posting!
"If celebrities or influencers are posting about a product on social media, they must make it clear if they've been paid to promote it, or have been gifted, loaned a product or thanked in some other way by a brand. No one should be left thinking that a Tweet or Instagram post is just the person's opinion when it's not

Completely agree with that. If I was to get anything, whether through being paid, gifted etc, it should always be declared that it was and not just your own opinion.

Peaches100 · 26/10/2018 00:48

Verbenna - I agree! Enjoy your wine. It's late for me.

For what it is worth, I don't put my bananas in the fridge, but I don't mind if people do Grin

Eliza9917 · 26/10/2018 06:11

I just think it's sad that so many people go out and copy exactly what these people {insert relevant 'influencer,'] have. Why not make your house your own, to your own tastes, not a carbon copy of someone else's.

I looked up those minky pads on eBay yesterday, some were at £35 (auction). For a fucking sponge. One was even listed at buy it now, with a tub of pink stuff, for £50.

HSM19 · 26/10/2018 07:35

Eliza9917 - I couldn’t agree more with you, I’m in the Facebook groups and I do find it amusing how many people copy what she has done by the book. And as for the minky the vile comments I have read towards minky themselves from the followers who either haven’t received one or couldn’t get one before they sold out are embarrassing like it’s a sponge don’t be so ridiculous.

HSM19 · 26/10/2018 07:51

@mummyofsiz - my comment was directly referring to yours, there are a lot of comments about her being mentally unstable etc etc. And as someone that has experienced yes you do have a right to comment and discuss showing traits of it but a lot of women in here that wouldn’t really know a thing about it through OCD around like it’s just cleaning and she must have it as she cleans so much. The fact is whilst people follow and copy what she is doing then she is going to keep doing it. It’s about business at the end of the day to her she is making a living of this. She probably cleans her sink 3000 times a day because her stories show alot of people watch that. Things are not always what they seem, mrs hinch could live in an absolute tip untill that camera comes out so I think you have to take what you see as fiction when it comes to Instagram/business/money making.

HSM19 · 26/10/2018 07:52

@mummyofsiz - that is meant to say wasn’t directly referring to yours Smile

nipersvest · 26/10/2018 10:25

As an aside, I had a look this morning on the Minky instagram post about stock of the cleaning pads, is it safe to assume it's the 'Hinch Army' that are waiting for their orders to be fulfilled?, the comments are a bit vicious.

Are they really worth the wait? and the price they are going for on Ebay?

Homeinspo · 26/10/2018 10:30

@nipersvest personally i don't think they are. There are others on the market that are better quality and price!

Scrub buddy from B&M you get 3 for £1.99
M&S have one for a £1.00

My minky fell apart (i had this before the hype)

Mrscog · 26/10/2018 10:37

Her style is not my cup of tea, but I also worry enormously about the poor example she's setting in terms of environmental considerations. She sloshes chemicals around like they're going out of fashion. Cleaning products really are a once a week, or 'i've just had raw chicken out' sort of things to use - the rest of the time a damp microfibre cloth should be more than enough.

JessicaPeach · 26/10/2018 10:38

I haven't tried a minkey but I did get the b&m version and am converted to that type of cleaning cloth now, they are good! Can't imagine the minkey is any better than the others though

Lilbee23 · 26/10/2018 10:55

Wonder why she’s not testing out the e cloth pad or the scrub buddy? Instead of the minky. Hmmm

Homeinspo · 26/10/2018 11:52

@Lilbee23 she has a paid partnership with minky so she cannot really advertise other sponges.

She did bring minky on tv lol it is her thing I suppose.

SweatyUnderboob · 26/10/2018 13:06

It would be good if she could suggest alternatives for those who don’t have a minky yet, but it seems to be minky or bust.

JessicaPeach · 26/10/2018 13:18

I don't think she's ever said she's in a paid partnership with minky, its inferred but shoild be completely clear.

HeavenlyEyes · 26/10/2018 13:30

I wonder why her PR are not telling her to do these affiliate links. Surely plenty of folk must have reported her to the ASA? Just seems daft to blatantly not follow the rules.

GetYourRocksOff · 26/10/2018 13:50

The crockpot she used to make that weird thing in is linked in a swipe up already.

Boohissmiss · 26/10/2018 13:57

I’m amazed ASA have not caught up with her yet. I do feel for all those paying over the odds to buy from a link that is lining her pockets. This is why ASA is there to protect people .
