I don't get why people stockpile cleaning stuff! I have 1 bottle Zoflora, 1 bleach , 1 Mr Muscle bathroom cleaner, 1 Mr Muscle window cleaner, 1 bottle of fairy liquid! Would rather have money sitting in my bank instead of my cupboard.

Potentially yes!

BatFacedOK · 19/10/2018 22:35

No. And this is how conspiracy theories start! Just swiping and looking will not place a purchase type cookie on your device. If you make the purchase then yes, the cookie will remain for a minimum of 30 days so if you make further purchases then she will get a very small percentage from the retailer

It's really nothing to worry about. You aren't losing out - you're buying something you'd (hopefully!) have bought anyway.

The crux of the discussion is DISCLOSURE. She needs to disclose. Not with a #aff in a pale colour so it's barely visible but with a #affiliate link that can be seen. She should also have a permanent piece somewhere which explains her use of affiliate links that her followers can be directed to

She just be aware of all this though. And if she's not declaring her links as affiliate ones this means one of two things .... she's either not using affiliate links or she's not disclosing them

JessicaPeach · 19/10/2018 23:05

That's not right batface, if you swipe up you don't have to purchase that item for the cookie to be placed. If you visit that site and purchase anything within 30 days then commission is earned on that item, even if you didn't purchase when you swiped up. Lots of people use 30 day cookies to maximise their earnings.

Skyejuly · 20/10/2018 07:35

The level of defense here.... :o

IamPickleRick · 20/10/2018 10:24

So if this was on eBay for example and I buy those grey baskets she’s advertising, will she then get a percentage of everything that I buy on eBay for 30 days that has absolutely nothing to do with grey baskets? Me and my DH share an account so it seems a little off that she would get a percentage of the LARP equipment and mechanical spiders and vintage Alien merch that we buy 😂

And if I buy off three swipe up eBay ads, how are my sales for the next 30 days calculated and attributed to?

I think this swipe up business needs total clarification if she’s actually doing this.

Instacrumb · 20/10/2018 10:53

www.asa.org.uk/resource/influencers-guide.html

This will help with clarity of what she should be doing for those interested and not sure. All her links should be marked af and all her freebies should be marked gifted. I think as a pp said she assumes she is above the rules because stories disappear. It makes it difficult for ASA to do anything if they can't see evidence so take screenshots if reporting.

I find it infuriating that she's still doing this and getting away with it when clearly people have no clue on any of it!

Bubba1234 · 20/10/2018 19:18

She’s does way too many stories each day I don’t know anyone as bad

There are loads aren't there? Grin I kind of like it though,I usually have a binge watch of them all before bed if I haven't managed to watch any during the day.

MaHeidsGouping · 20/10/2018 20:27

My IG stories are all cleaning IGers, I need to get a life...I think I watched 3 sink cleans in one day Grin.

JessicaPeach · 20/10/2018 20:33

I like a good binge on stories too, I think she's good value for that!

It's the first cleaning account I've ever watched, always found it boring before now lol Grin
Which other ones do you follow?
Mine are usually foody ones or mum type family bloggers in my stories.

Mrs H was the 1st one I started following but I find the "Hinch Army", swipe ups, same sink clean, the 1mill celebrations, her cackle all too much now.

My favourite is LittleMissMops, CleanJen25 and DazlinCleaning. I'm a domestic cleaner so I have picked up a few tips here and there.

VerbeenaBeeks · 20/10/2018 22:25

Yeah, you got me, I'm Mrs Hinch or a member of her team for having a differing opinion to the majority Confused Grin
OK so. (read OK so in Mrs Doyle from Father Ted's voice.)
These Instagram threads make me laugh.

@MaHeidsgrouping I've heard of Little Miss Mops through these threads but not checked it out yet. Not heard of the other ones but will have a look.

BrendasUmbrella · 20/10/2018 22:55

One of my friends has been "Hinched" so I heard all about her yesterday. I'm mildly amused that my friend now uses the Linen Zoflora scent because Mrs Hinch recommends it, when she always said it made her heave before...

This woman uses carpet foam EVERY DAY? Is that right? Her carpets must crunch when she walks on them.

GuiltyPleasure · 21/10/2018 00:37

I've followed her on Instagram to see what the fuss was about. Don't mind the ultra-sanitised grey decor, like the dog, some of the cleaning tips are good, but cannot bear the product/Name alliteration.. Gregory/glove, Sophie/ Shark, Derek/dishmatic etc etc... nauseating

finks100 · 21/10/2018 07:57

There is an article about her today in a big Sunday paper. It explains she is signed with Gleam.
Why then isn’t she marking things #ad, surely her agency would advise her!

JessicaPeach · 21/10/2018 08:50

Well that doesn't surprise me at all, gleam is the worst of the lot!

GetYourRocksOff · 21/10/2018 09:40

Is gleam a pr agency?

Does she ever clean anything that isn't already clean?

JessicaPeach · 21/10/2018 10:21

Raglansleeve · 21/10/2018 10:44

I think Verbena is poster ‘rainbowsandsmiles’ off the first MrsH thread and is either on the payroll, or is way too over invested and needs to step away from the Minkies.

JessicaPeach · 21/10/2018 10:51

Verbeena is Cady heron, famous devil's advocate of all influencers. She's not Mrs hinch but I believe she has been accused of being mother of daughters before now!

babbscrabbs · 21/10/2018 10:52

Gleam is an influencer management agency. They arrange for brands to pay influencers for promoting their products and take a cut of the payment as fee.

I imagine she'd be getting £5K for an ad and gleam will take 10-20%

Jessica is right re affiliate marketing.

If you click on one of Hinch Amazon links out of curiosity, log off, then go onto Amazon the next week to buy a new TV, she will get 5% (or another percentage) of the TV's value in commission.

That's why it should be declared as an affiliate link as she's recommending products she will make a profit on, as a percentage.

So if she persuades 1000 people to buy the £5 item from Amazon rather than the £1 item, she'll make five times the commission.

Instacrumb · 21/10/2018 10:59

I wondered if she was rainbowsandsmiles too!
