I don't get why people stockpile cleaning stuff! I have 1 bottle Zoflora, 1 bleach , 1 Mr Muscle bathroom cleaner, 1 Mr Muscle window cleaner, 1 bottle of fairy liquid! Would rather have money sitting in my bank instead of my cupboard.

Do people really think 1 mil people are interested in a bird who names her cleaning products?

Might not be to your taste but there's loads out there who do "get" it.
The FB group for one is hugely active and big to boot.
So I can believe there's a lot of interest.

Homeinspo · 17/10/2018 21:10

Also on that group a lot have stated they have no idea who she is and are there just for cleaning tips.

If she was more HONEST with her followers i think that would be a start.
The constant ££ is all she is seeing at the moment.

VerbeenaBeeks · 17/10/2018 21:14

The ones that I've seen in the FB group who've said they're not sure what it's all about are ones who have been randomly added by their friends.
Not sure what she can do about people joining a group and not knowing what it is they're joining?
It's pretty clear it's a cleaning/lifestyle type account!

Tiggy78 · 17/10/2018 23:57

That'll be spam bots. I seem to pick them up on Twitter for some reason, if I spot any I quickly block them so they're not following me anymore.
That won't be her doing.

They might be spam bots but she doesn’t seem to be blocking them. Surely that’s exaggerating her follower count.

VerbeenaBeeks · 18/10/2018 00:03

You have to physically check and go over your followers to see who is real and who isn't.
I've only got a few thousand on Twitter so can't even begin to imagine how much of a task it'd be if you had near on a million followers! Grin

Lollypop27 · 18/10/2018 08:40

I said it on the last thread but I believe she has a huge following because it’s affordable. All of the other ‘influencers’ are middle class women in their London houses, wearing marks and Spencer clothes, having free holidays, burning their jo malone candles. Generally sahm mums with little ones don’t have that kind of income. £20 in home bargains on zoflora is affordable to them, it’s something they can join in with. Most of the grey, glitter shit can be purchased cheap enough so they can copy. They feel part of something. They also get praised by Sophie as she puts it on her stories.

When I was on the Facebook group they would post that they had posted on here putting people in their place on the first thread. People would then praise them for it. It’s validation for them.

My cousin is part of the Hinch Army and it’s changed her life! Her house is immaculate, she’s decorated so it looks like Mrs Hinch. It was affordable for her to do. People praise her for how clean her house is with small children. She’s loving it and is feeling like she’s part of something and it’s being recognised.

Personally I unfollowed a few weeks ago. The mixture of chemicals and the plastic wastage was too much for me. I think the way she has treated other instagrammers is disgusting. She knows she could post telling her ‘army’ to stop the trolling but she doesn’t. To me that makes her not a very nice person.

I do think she’s going to fall as quickly as she came up.

VerbeenaBeeks · 18/10/2018 10:33

I agree with you when you say as it's affordable. I'm always skint for example but zoflora etc only a pound and I can do that! Same with the decor - things from b and m and home bargains are within reach unlike people with their White Company and Boden etc.
I still don't see how she can stop trolls though - trolls gonna troll regardless! As I said I did see a story the other week telling people that it wasn't on to be horrible to others, and she didn't want to be a part of that not in her name type thing. If people still are, what do you do?!

JessicaPeach · 18/10/2018 12:08

You keep asking them to stop, in exactly the same way that you keep showing them how to clean a clean sink. They catch on with enough repetition!

nipersvest · 18/10/2018 12:12

This! ^^

Absolutely, you don't amass almost 1 million followers and then lead from behind, you lead from the front!

VerbeenaBeeks · 18/10/2018 12:29

Yeah, because just asking them to stop will automatically stop them. Bet some of the big name IGers wish it was that easy with all the IG threads that pop up slating on MN, bet it's like whack a mole on here - one stops, another pops up lol Grin

JessicaPeach · 18/10/2018 12:39

There’s a difference though to be being seen to do the right thing, actually doing the right thing and not addressing it at all. That fb group seems to be attracting a certain type of person and she’s doing nothing to influence that behaviour or even attempting to stop people acting in her name. Fuelling it it further.

nipersvest · 18/10/2018 12:45

No, it won't automatically get the trolls/hinch army to stop, but given she's already proved she has the power to change so many people's cleaning habits, isn't it at least worth her trying? Just a little??

Instacrumb · 18/10/2018 12:51

Yeah, because just asking them to stop will automatically stop them

No, but she has influence on people that's the point. She could be a good influence and state she doesn't agree with the behaviour and a lot of people will take heed. She won't because she doesn't care as long as these bullies are not bullying her. Saying nothing is worse than not addressing it at all because it shows she doesn't care. She's already stated she doesn't feel any responsibility for her followers which I'm sorry is just bollocks. If you have nearly a million followers you do have some sort of responsibility to them because of the influence you have on them.

In simple terms, without her asking them to people have stockpiled products or brought things she owns. That's a lot of influence. Maybe she should use it for some good.

BatFacedOK · 18/10/2018 13:09

@JessicaPeach yes that's it. I agree with your comment. I don't have strong views on Mrs Hinch (although she must declare her affiliate links properly!) but I would never in a million years allow a group in my name. And whoever said the people in it were 'Alfie's Army' types, was spot on too

VerbeenaBeeks · 18/10/2018 15:18

Instacrumb - she HAS said she doesn't agree with any bullying behaviour, don't know if you're missing that bit? There was a story on it saying it wasn't on. Can't remember exact words but there definitely was one, so possibly others too.

VerbeenaBeeks · 18/10/2018 15:22

If you get famous like she has too, how do you stop groups popping up in your name about you? As if people would just close down groups and possible new followers whenever they saw them. Confused

Twinsmeannosleep · 18/10/2018 15:47

Like @jessicapeach said, you just consistently keep encouraging them to stop. If for no other reason then to protect your image. I agree that there are some people that will just keep doing it anyway so by being consistent in her messaging, she can distance herself from it. One message from weeks ago just isn't enough.

I think you have to be careful with the "dear leader" mobs, because they will turn on you eventually...

BatFacedOK · 18/10/2018 15:56

I work for myself in a business which means I have trademarked several names and other bits and pieces. I have had this sort of thing myself and it's easy to discourage it. You can't shut down groups which are effectively fan groups but you don't condone them by posting in them or rallying them like troops.

Mummysharkdoodoodoo · 18/10/2018 17:07

OMG her “celebration” for 1 million subscribers 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

MissMarplesKnitting · 18/10/2018 17:12

I'd never thought of her being a P&G plant but the more I think about it, the more credible it seems.

She doesn't entertain alternative nptoducts, eco friendly things etc. It's all about what she recommends, and the sheeple all follow along down the the shops for a "minkeh" and eleventy billion bottles of zoflora....

MissMarplesKnitting · 18/10/2018 17:13

And she got her own P&G Mrs Hinch labelled fairy liquid.

Yup.

She's just a paid influencer!

MaHeidsGouping · 18/10/2018 17:18

Can't believe her lastest photo 🙈

MarshaBradyo · 18/10/2018 17:19

But does P&G own the Zoflora and Minky brands? I did google but couldn’t see them on their site

BatFacedOK · 18/10/2018 17:28

No, she won't be some sort of plant... that's how conspiracy theories start you know! And yes of course she is now a paid influencer and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that providing you are clear about your use of affiliated links.

She's got a great platform now to make money and I say fair play but you must let your audience know when something is an ad, a paid promotion or just an affiliate link. I notice she has some new red boots. I wouldn't normally notice this but she's been really pushing them so I should think that'll be the next thing she will promote. And FINE, but I will be interested to see if she declares properly

MarshaBradyo · 18/10/2018 17:34

I think the pp got it when they said she makes buying stuff accessible

There’s a zillion people trying to flog their perfect life on IG and she did it differently by having a more realistic home etc

I don’t follow but I can see why people do (more mass market)

Although no idea how she got so many followers that quickly, imagine seeing that each time you looked
