My DD is experiencing Freshers week and has been out partying and drinking literally all week since last Saturday. I am rather worried as this is very much out of character for her. She usually is a homebody who studies hard and drinks very little. I am hoping that she gets it out of her system this week and then settles down, or will she get a taste for this and not want to stop partying? Really worried as its not her. I have spoken to her but she says she is fine. Worked really hard to get her place at Uni. Am I worrying for no reason??

Interestingly, some of the universities we looked at now check on students' attendance at lectures. So partying and missing lectures is a no no. Partying is fine, but you have to go to lectures unless you have a very good reason not to.

Perfectly normal. Freshers week is great fun!

I hated freshers week and gave up after two days, couldn't be doing with lots of noise and obnoxious drunk people. My parents were so proud of their sensible, hard working little girl.
Now I'm in my thirties and they're more worried about me than ever - I've turned into quite the party animal Grin

That's what fresher's week is for. DHs cousin was much the same and then hit fresher's week and the rest of uni social life hard. She also studies hard, is heavily involved in student politics and other extra curricular grips, she's on course to come out with a very good degree, much improved social skills and confidence and a CV that denigrates all kinds of other interests and passions. I was no different, other than being a quiet homebody before I went, I wasn't....
