To think I'm an idiot re: school uniform?

4 year old DS started school, all fine. Only problem is we bought his trousers and they have a hook and eye fastening and a zip.

He can't undo the hook and eye. Thankfully they are a bit big around the waist so he can pull then up and down to go to the loo. But they also hang too low and you can see his underpants lol

Anyone else had that problem? Am I the only idiot not to buy elasticated waist or popper?

Sorry - easy dressing - they can just pull them up!

My 4 year old has the ones from M&S you just pull up and down, he'd never be able to do a zip and eyelet!

Asda has half elasticated waistbands up to about age 10. Godsend! My son also wore snake belts for school - stretchy enough not to have to undo but easy to fasten,

Ha, you want embarrassing school uniform disasters.

I have just put a pair of DS's school shorts through a boil wash along with some towels! They are 6" shorter than they used to be. He's howling with laughter at me and has just insisted on trying them on. They look like something out of the Money Supermarket men twerking in hot pants advert.

I am a muppet.

And now I have to take up yet another pair of old school trousers to make up for the destruction.

You could replace the fastening with Velcro. I used to put all my ds' trousers into an alteration place who would do it for me. He has a fine motor difficulty and couldn't do buttons on jeans and fasten school trousers until he was older than others. He is can do them no problem now.
