To say something/feel bothered by sharing photos of DD

I don't post photos of DD on social media but I do send pictures to my family & DHs family via WhatsApp.
I've never explicitly said not to share photos on but in my family at least, it's a given that they either show someone from their phone or they have been known to ask if they can share her photo to x.

My SiL has in past sent a photo or two to her SiL via a "family" group chat that I happen to be in. I have also sent the odd photo but mostly I only share in the group with just my 2 SiL, PiLs and DH as that is our family inner circle. These previous photos being shared haven't bothered me and so nothing has been said about sharing photos but recently SiL shared on some professional shots that she had been given viewing access to by DH via Google Drive and it's really bothered me. AIBU to feel this way and should I tell her to stop sharing these personal photos on or do I just let it go?

Tough one. If you don't post photos yourself on social media then you're fair to ask them to do the same and just keep photos private.

My only rule with family regarding pictures is not to post on any social media platforms that dh and i aren't part of and no bath, potty or semi naked snaps. Those are private family photos only. I also don't allow my dds nursery to be disclosed in a photo so anything with uniform or a sign in the background giving away the school is a no no.

Just ask them not to. People know not to share photos of DD because I've asked them not to.

What mrsterrypratchett said. Don't make a big deal just say it and explain that you know she didn't know.so are not angry

Thank you. I think I'll ask DH to have a word as it'll come across better.

@flowersandblack
I think that might be what it is, the professional shots were naked. Not that anything could be seen in the ones shared on as they were ones zoomed to just her face but I think that's where I feel a line was crossed, albeit unintentionally.

I guess it's one of those things where everyone's views are different. I personally would think it weird to send photos of my SiL DC to my sister as she has no relation to them so in my eyes why should she be interested in having photos of them.

Is this sil your dh sister then /your dcs aunt? Also what age are your DC? lm not a fan of naked pics of even a baby, especially pro ones, as a pp said and DC bathtime snaps etc should be kept to just the family. Did your dh ask you if OK to share with his DSis/sil and did he give her in turn permission share with her sil?

SiL is DHs sister. DD is 4 months old. We have a Google Drive where albums go so that other family members can view/add to them. This is usually after trips away etc so everyone's photos are together. DH shared the professional photos there for the family to see. We have not explicitly said that's it's okay to share them nor have we said it's not so it is on us.

My family always ask regarding sending photos not that they do. Only the odd photo that my Mum forwards on to my Grandparents. They will however show anyone interested photos from their phone but that I don't mind as it still contained.

I have photos of DD in the bath but I don't share them even with family. I have shown them to family members but via my phone gallery.

DH thinks I'm being silly but is going to have words.

So it's your Dh's sisters Dh's sister is it? So no relation at all to you, why on earth would even.be interested in them as pp has said?

FoodGloriousFud · 20/09/2018 09:26

Your child has had a naked photoshoot?

anonymouse · 20/09/2018 09:42

Yes, DHs sister's DHs sister just writing it is long so no relation to us. She didn't even know I was pregnant until a week before DD was born. Although for that entire week I got "any news" messages daily. She was the only one and it drove me crazy.

My newborn DD had a naked photo shoot. Not particularly weird. no 5 year old naked in the tub with me snaps
