Having periods but feeling flutters

Normally, I'm a real rational person but I keep feeling flutters/kicking, I think but here's the deal I've been having periods. I'm worried there might be something sinister going on (obvs not a pregnancy I'd consider sinister) I haven't spoke to my OH about this yet but I've got an appointment to see my go next week.
Just really worried, has anyone else been in this situation before? If so what was your outcome?

Wind? Floating rib?

GreenMeerkat · 19/09/2018 21:29

I assume you've taken a test?

CrispbuttyNo1 · 19/09/2018 21:29

Wind

Osirus · 19/09/2018 21:32

I get this, not sure what it is but I’m still here. Had it for two years since my baby was born, or at least only noticed it since then because the feeling is so familiar. Definitely no baby!

Singlebutmarried · 19/09/2018 21:34

Most likely wind. I get it from time to time.

wednesdaywonder · 19/09/2018 21:42

So glad to hear it's quite common! My youngest was born 2 years ago.
I've actually just taken a test and I think there is a very light line on it. But if there is and I'm pregnant feeling kicks, surely the line would be darker and I've also just finished my period?

Are the periods normal for you or less heavy?

MrsDc7 · 19/09/2018 21:44

Take another one in the morning x

sadnessin · 19/09/2018 21:44

Can you post a pic of the test?

PoxAlert · 19/09/2018 21:45

My belly was kicking like crazy in the bath earlier.

Definitely not pregnant.

Did a fart. "Kicking" stopped.

hiddeneverything · 19/09/2018 21:45

Do you have another test you can take? x

steff13 · 19/09/2018 21:46

I've felt that, I assumed it was gas or something. I also have IBS, so "rumblings" in that area are not unusual.

If you've had a positive test, though, I'd think you were pregnant. I do know a woman who had periods while she was pregnant, although she said they were much lighter.

Stupomax · 19/09/2018 21:57

I'd do another test in the morning. Speaking as someone who had periods while pregnant...

ConfusedMum82 · 19/09/2018 21:59

I had periods, most regular ones of my life, until I was 6 months pregnant.
Just saying it can happen.

Get another test and try again in the morning.

MysteriousSheep · 19/09/2018 22:00

Could be the blood pumping through your abdominal aorta? I felt this for a while, and it felt a lot like a baby kicking.

SinkGirl · 19/09/2018 22:05

My twins are two. For the first 18 months I felt “kicks” most days. Sometimes a muscle in my abdomen twitches and it looks like kicks. I am most definitely not pregnant. I never felt this before I was pregnant, or maybe I did but I didn’t associate it with the feeling of babies moving. A friend told me she gets the same since her third was born. I think it’s quite common.

SinkGirl · 19/09/2018 22:07

HCG levels are lower later in pregnancy I think - if you’re pregnant enough to feel movement then the levels might already be quite low. Apparently after the first trimester they’re much lower. Take another test in the morning.

iMatter · 19/09/2018 22:13

It's highly unlikely to be a pregnancy, especially as you've just had a period.

SayHello · 19/09/2018 22:37

Let us know is how you get on op

wednesdaywonder · 20/09/2018 08:17

Morning all, took another test this morning and can't see anything. Think there was an indentation mark on the other test as this ones a clear negative.
I'll keep my apt for the gp but it sounds like it's common for this flutter/kicking feeling.
Can't work out if I'm slightly disappointed now Confused

Op, did you turn out to be pregnant? I’m just wondering as I’m having this and I’ve just had a period and neg test a few weeks ago!

Momfromthevale · 28/07/2020 16:49

What was the outcome? I’m having the same.. @wednesdaywonder

NoProbLlamaa · 29/07/2020 12:44

I had my little boy last year - I still get that fluttery early movement feeling even though I am 100% not pregnant
