Trying to determine how bad my periods actually are in comparison to others.

They last 7-10 days but are not heavy the whole time but there will be blood all of those days at some point. Heavy for around 2-3 days.

Anyone wish to share for my own research purposes? Grin

7-8. Day 1 is light, 2-3 medium to heavy, 4-5 light, 6-8 spotting.

Abouttime1978 · 19/09/2018 08:22

3-4 days. 1 day very heavy the rest pretty light.

Ronnyhotdog · 19/09/2018 08:23

Currently on Day 6, still heavy. I’ve had 6 months of week on, heavy week off, week on. In the middle of investigations. Hate it.

JamAtkins · 19/09/2018 08:26

8-10 days, 5 days heavy, then average for the remaining days and they come every 21-24 days. I've had enough....hoping for an ablation procedure soon, waiting for GPS referral to go through.

@Feelslikecrystal I was the same (although a "normal" 5-7 days 28 day cycle for most of my 20s). I had my ablation last year. Best thing I ever did.

elQuintoConyo · 19/09/2018 08:39

Before dc 7 days: 3 heavy, 3 medium, 1 light. Never a period pain or upset stomach.
After dc: 3 days max, often 2: 1 day medium, one day faffy nothing much. Still no cramps or other problems.

I'm 43yo and have a 7yo.

My dsis has had horrendously heavy periods all her life with accompanying cramps and shit. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason.

MrsRubyMonday · 19/09/2018 08:48

60-90 days of light-medium bleeding, followed by 5 days of incredibly heavy, going through a super plus tampon and ultra pad in an hour bleeding. Then 3-14 days off. Then start the whole cycle over again. Have had every test under the sun, no imbalances, no physical issues. It's a mystery.

MaggieSimpsonsPacifier · 19/09/2018 08:48

Up to age 35 or so:

Day 1 - medium
Day 2 - heavy
Day 3 - medium
Day 4-6 - really irritating as too heavy for no protection; so light that it didn’t seem worth the money!

35+ - 3 days, light flow throughout

I was a bit worried by the change but was very lucky to conceive easily and have 2 babies with no problems with the uterine lining, so I think it’s just age!

DrinkReprehensibly · 19/09/2018 08:49

Usually 7 days here. 1 day heavy, 3 to 4 days of medium and light for the rest.

I think it's whatever is normal for you is fine. Unless there's a sudden change, it's probably just your normal. If you are in significant discomfort, see the doc.

MaggieSimpsonsPacifier · 19/09/2018 08:51

This thread really seems to show that there’s no such thing as “normal” - just what’s normal for YOU!

ShartGoblin · 19/09/2018 09:11

3 weeks average on the implant, maximum 8 weeks. Roughly 3 month cycles.

Pre-implant - 7 days on the dot with the first 2 days resembling Carrie and leaving me unable to walk from the pain.

NotMadeByDesign · 19/09/2018 09:15

9 days, 5 of those with hourly tampon and pad changes(have to wear both) the rest more every 2 or 3 hours.

Methe · 19/09/2018 09:17

3 days -
1 day debilitatingly heavy with massive clots.
1 day heavy
1day light

PermanentlyFrizzyHairBall · 19/09/2018 09:18

Heavy for 2 days then light flow for an extra 3-5 days.

PermanentlyFrizzyHairBall · 19/09/2018 09:19

Should add when I say heavy for 2 days I mean I need a super tampon changed every 3-4 hours not nearly as heavy as some people are describing.

serendipitintea · 19/09/2018 09:21

5/6 days but I have a long cycle so only get a period every 35 days or so. It's only heavy for the first 2/3 days then just spotting

MissMatchedClaws · 19/09/2018 11:02

Before ablation, 8 days, five of them heavy enough to be a real problem. Was anaemic.
After ablation, and fibroid removal (so two ops under GA) 4-5 days, two heavy, two light, one spotting.

blackteaplease · 19/09/2018 11:05

4 days extremely heavy then up to 10 days spotting

Feelslikecrystal · 19/09/2018 17:58

That's good to know @JamAtkins. I'm hoping for an almost miracle, as I have very low iron stores, although not anaemic, but life is like wading through mud because of this.

Shadow1986 · 19/09/2018 19:34

Thanks all for replying. I agree with Pp who said it seems there is no normal!

Im at the beginning of investigations into mine but now I’ve looked at some others, maybe mine aren’t even THAT bad.

Tamiah · 19/09/2018 19:36

For those of you who have 3-4 day periods, I hate you all! Mine is usually 7-9 days Sad

MaisyPops · 19/09/2018 20:45

Tamiah
I've always felt lucky, until TTC and now we aren't sure if there's enough lining or if the cycle is functioning properly. We're 2 years in and going into testing stage and I'm terrified my cycles are a sign something is wrong.

SingingSands · 19/09/2018 21:03

Used to be 9/10 days.

Now 4-5.

cleopatracomingatya · 19/09/2018 21:05

3 days usually
Day 1 = very light
Day 2 = heavy
Day 3 = light
Day 4 = usually gone by now but occasionally could still be some watery remaining blood (tmi)

Tamiah · 19/09/2018 21:14

Hi @MaisyPops - sorry if my comment seemed flippant. It wasn't meant in that way at all. I have endometriosis which is half the reason for my heavy periods (we think). Took us 1.5 years to conceive. Sorry to hear you are having issues and all the best re ttc. When I went in they told me that the fact I was having regular periods meant I was half way there and a good sign I was ovulating. Modern technology and fertility treatments are amazing nowadays and I sincerely hope you manage to get to the root of the problem Flowers

Flobalob · 19/09/2018 21:16

Used to be 5 days now 3. The first 2 days are super heavy, lots of clots etc.
