Trying to determine how bad my periods actually are in comparison to others.

They last 7-10 days but are not heavy the whole time but there will be blood all of those days at some point. Heavy for around 2-3 days.

Anyone wish to share for my own research purposes? Grin

7-10 days*

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 18/09/2018 21:35

My last one was three weeks. But the doctor is sending me for tests but thinks it’s menopausal

Ugh.

Smallgiraffee · 18/09/2018 21:36

Before being sterilised 2-3 weeks. Just had my first period since the operation and it was 6 days

Fabricwitch · 18/09/2018 21:39

Normally a week, but can go on for as long as 2. Heavy for about 4 days

OddestSock · 18/09/2018 21:40

2-3 days & they’re not heavy. I only ever need to use regular tampons (& a pad as back up the first night)

Studyinghell · 18/09/2018 21:47

11 the last 1, 1 day heavy at the start then 1 in the middle, been like it for a few years. Average 8/9 days

jay55 · 18/09/2018 21:48

5 days 2 moderate, 3 light.

FluffySlipperSocks · 18/09/2018 21:50

7 days. Day 1 light, days 2, 3 and 4 very heavy, and then lighter from there on

chaoscategorised · 18/09/2018 21:50

One day of hell, three days of normal/light, then maybe a couple of vague spotting which I don't really count. I think that's pretty lucky, even if the first day is bad. My friend is a solid 7 days, heavy the whole time.

Violetroselily · 18/09/2018 21:53

4 days - 1 heavyish, 2 mild and last day very very light

slippermaiden · 18/09/2018 21:53

3 days full on and then one day of practically nothing.

Catmatrat · 18/09/2018 21:53

Two days

lexi727 · 18/09/2018 21:54

5 days

Feelslikecrystal · 18/09/2018 21:55

8-10 days, 5 days heavy, then average for the remaining days and they come every 21-24 days. I've had enough....hoping for an ablation procedure soon, waiting for GPS referral to go through.

DoYouLikeHueyLewisandTheNews · 18/09/2018 22:00

10 days.
3 days spotting (sometimes more)
1 heavy day
1 heavy/medium day
2 days medium
3 days light/spotting

Apparently mine are like this as I have a hormone imbalance.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 18/09/2018 22:02

2-3 days, usually one day light then one or two just spotting. Last one was just 2 days of random stringy bits coming out when i went for a pee

Magenta123 · 18/09/2018 22:05

start gradually, as is usually the norm, very heavy for 4 days then abruptly stops for a day which used to fool me into thinking it was finishing, only to start again heavy with clots for another day. Anyone else experienced this? And also anyone thinking they're perimenopausal?

Mumelie · 18/09/2018 22:06

8-10 days! Been like this for years but getting closer together now. Light for first 5 days the bloody awful!

ComtessedeLancret · 18/09/2018 22:07

Used to last two to three weeks very heavily for me but that’s due to PCOS and Endometriosis. After three surgeries and faffing about with different hormonal contraceptives (depo shot, implanon, progesterone only, mini pill, normal pill) I’ve found what works for me and now it’s maybe 5 days max with only 2 days heavy flow.

titsbumfannythelot · 18/09/2018 22:15

Mine is around a week which feels long.

Anyone with longer periods have an iud?

wildewillow · 18/09/2018 22:40

Mine are about 7-8 days, very heavy for 2 days then light for the rest, I have a stop day about day 6 then it can start again with a vengeance for day 7. Very painful for the whole time.

Every body is different hence every period is different. What's a 'bad' period for you isn't necessarily bad for someone else and vice versa, so it very difficult to compare what's normal.

SinkGirl · 18/09/2018 22:47

6 very heavy days, then 2-4 medium days (last day might be light if I’m lucky).

I have endometriosis and adenomyosis though

SinkGirl · 18/09/2018 22:48

Oh and my cycles are down to 24 days. 10 days on, 14 days off. Joy.

AwkwardPaws27 · 18/09/2018 23:02

5-7 days.
First 2-3 days are painful and heavy (would have to change a tampon every 2-3 hours, now use a mooncup and cramp a bit less with it). Upset stomach, clots and pain down legs too. This has got worse over the last year so am having investigations.

Then a couple of days of medium - eg when using tampons would change every 4 hours as recommended, and a regular tampon would last that long without leaking. Cramping mostly finished and normal stool again by day 4-5.

Then a couple of days of very light, just need to change pantyliner every 12 hours.

APMom · 18/09/2018 23:04

At least 5 days, day 1 light, days 2 & 3 seriously heavy and extremely painful, 4, 5, 6 etc light but bleeding continues for at least 10 days.
This is only since I turned 40, 10 years ago.
