“Hiring a lawyer and taking a polygraph makes me more suspicious,” Graham says about Ford testimony so far, adding that she “can’t say how she got (to the party) and how she left”

ohmymimi · 27/09/2018 18:16

The Trump whisperer opines:
Maggie Haberman
@maggieNYT
Trump has been telling people for over a week he thought she could have a story to tell, and he was concerned about how the hearing would play on TV. He was already paving the road for moving on from Kavanaugh yesterday. One thing he isn't today is surprised.

Jonathan Martin
@jmartNYT
If Trump pulls Kavanaugh, it’ll happen for the same reason he accused Obama of tapping his wires, endorsed Ron DeSantis et al: reax to TV.

"[Ford] is extremely credible and Rachel Mitchell is not laying a glove on her... the president cannot be happy with this." -- Judge Napolitano (a Trump favorite) on Fox News (which Trump surely is watching).

Boinggg:
Kaitlan Collins
@kaitlancollins
Sen. Orrin Hatch says it’s too early to say if Ford is credible.

“I don’t think she’s uncredible. I think she an attractive, good witness,” he said.

Asked by @ElizLanders what he meant by “attractive,” he said, “In other words, she’s pleasing.

I got the polygraph test Dr. Ford took showing truthfulness about her account in the record. To quote a judge: “law enforcement agencies use polygraphs to test the credibility of witnesses” & the tests “serve law enforcement purposes.” That judge was Brett Kavanaugh in 2016 case.

cozietoesie · 27/09/2018 18:31

Mitchell believes her, mimi.

CaveMum · 27/09/2018 18:39

Fell off the thread so marking my spot.

Roussette · 27/09/2018 18:53

Cory Booker speaking now, he's a good man.

I think that what shines through is her honesty as far as admitting she can't remember everything

ohmymimi · 27/09/2018 19:28

Yes, agree, cozie, she struggled, I thought.
Flimsy Lindsey is still speaking from the same songsheet. He is making a huge dick is himself. He is really wound up because Repuglies have cocked up and they know it.

Gumpendorf · 27/09/2018 19:28

Graham now blaming Dems for turning this into a political protest. He literally shoved a Senator out of the way so he could spew bile at the reporter. Angry

ohmymimi · 27/09/2018 19:32

is- of
Grassley made a total hash by trying to be too clever. That 5 minute speed questioning played against their female assistant ruse.

Gumpendorf · 27/09/2018 19:35

Dr Ford was remarkable. She open and honest and credible.

At one point she said "I wish that I could be more helpful and that others could be more helpful and that we could collaborate in a way that would get more information." All she wanted was to warn people about Kavanaugh.

An amazing role model.

No wonder Graham is furious. Something tells me they will still try and confirm though. It's too important to them, not to just 'plow on'.

ohmymimi · 27/09/2018 19:37

No corroboration! There was no investigation to establish corroboration. Disingenuous in the extreme:
Daniel Dale
@ddale8
Graham: "She is just as much a victim of this as I think Brett Kavanaugh. Because somebody betrayed her trust." He is arguing that Kavanaugh is a victim because he's being falsely accused by Blasey Ford, and she is a victim of Democrats because she didn't want to come forward.

Asked if he found Blasey Ford credible, Lindsey Graham says, "I didn't find her allegations to be corroborated against Mr. Kavanaugh. I don't doubt something happened to her."

Gumpendorf · 27/09/2018 19:39

arguments for sticking w/Kavanaugh would have to be:
—Ford’s raw,emotional testimony is political plot/lie
—testimony,while vivid,is a mistake
—a man can’t be held accountable for a drunken teenage assault 36 years ago
—it’s too important to flip the Court to care
—never give in

'Ford questioning leaves some Trump allies cringing.
Some officials are dismayed by a GOP prosecutor quizzing Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, while other Trump allies like the hearing's relatively low-key tenor.'

Gumpendorf · 27/09/2018 19:41

Perhaps, Graham needs to check in with his string puller.

Trump described to me as not angry so much as shocked by the spectacle of the hearing. And WH officials acknowledge Kavanaugh strategy of trying to present himself as a choir boy was a mistake out of the gate. politi.co/2zAL1pu via @politico

They will, Gump. In fact it would not surprise me one bit to hear that tomorrow's vote will proceed as planned. One can only hope that Murkowski, Collins, et al have been impacted by Dr Blasey Ford's testimony.

I found it so telling that the newspeople anchoring coverage pointed out that Senators were no doubt 'monitoring polls and constituent opinions' ahead of the vote. Too bad that means more to them (the Senators) than justice and truth.

CaveMum · 27/09/2018 19:42

Saw this on Facebook. It’s true.

Gumpendorf · 27/09/2018 19:47

And I'm with the Atlantic writer mimi.

People think he'S doing really well and standing up for them. They don't care about the test.

Gumpendorf · 27/09/2018 19:54

We are covering the news. No matter where it falls. Thanks. If you think that the first section of this hearing was a win for the GOP — then you saw a different hearing. So far. twitter.com/meandmorningjoe/status/1045378413828218881

Speaking frankly, @FoxNews commentary of this mornings events has left me with a bad taste. It’s as if #FOXNews is bending over backwards to be @MSNBC. This is an #EpicFail for you and your colleagues @BretBaier. #ComfirmKavanaughNow
