Voter enthusiasm/engagement is very high in the new Pew poll, with 61% of voters saying they're more enthusiastic than usual to vote in the midterms. This question is usually a pretty good predictor of overall national turnout. pewrsr.ch/2ONPD0q twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1045049063656353792/photo/1

@chrisgeidner
White House puts out a new letter of support for Kavanaugh, signed by 60+ people who attended schools in the area and knew Kavanaugh, calling Julie Swetnick's claims "Nonsense." They add: "We never witnessed any behavior that even approaches what is described in this allegation."

Note: These are many of the same people who signed prior letters, not a new universe of people.

Norm Eisen
@NormEisen
there's another lie in here to add to the long list that we enumerated below: these emerging charges are NOT "uncorroborated." And his statements about drinking too much and cringe-worthy behavior are contrary to the Fox interview

Trump having a little press conference and it is not going so well.

OP posts:
Gumpendorf · 26/09/2018 22:24

The President discussing the allegations against him is an unedifying spectacle. Because he had to make it about him.

All false charges - just ask Fox and Sean Hannity as they covered it.

There is a reason he doesn't do press conferences.

Trump responds to reporter question about new allegations against Kavanaugh. Trump calls it a "con game. People are wise to it. [Democrats] are bringing people out of the woods. They could do that to anybody -- except Prime Minister Abe, because he's so pure."

@PhilipRucker
@weijia tried to ask her question. Trump interrupted her. Then he went into monologue about his grievances with NYT reporting on his own accusers. Then Weijia, again, tried to ask her question. Trump told her, "Please sit down." But she held onto the mic and asked her question.

Bless Daniel Dale, lion, he does a grand job so we don't have to subject ourselves to the Stinker. And in this instance, the level of unhinged crapola was at Spinal Tap 11.

Whoever has to write the full transcript of the 100 minute Trump press conference for the US govt deserves a major national award, a pay rise and stiff drink. The President is now remembering advice Elton John once gave him. He seems happy in his work.

An interesting Chinese perspective: this is an article from the South China Morning Post about the ad in the Iowa newspaper, sanctions, and alleged Chinese meddling in the upcoming midterm elections. Even Scaramucci gets a mention. An excerpt:

‘The practice of foreign governments buying space in US newspapers to promote trade is common and differs from a clandestine operation run by a national intelligence agency.’

Scaramucci’s bit:

‘The hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of deals shot down this year on national security concerns included HNA’s bid for Skybridge Capital, a hedge fund founded by Trump’s one-time communications director Anthony Scaramucci; the US$580 million purchase of US semiconductor company Xcerra by a Chinese investment firm backed by state-owned Sino IC Capital; and the US$117 billion takeover of the semiconductor equipment maker Qualcomm by Broadcom, a Singapore-based company with close ties to Beijing.’
