I'm almost 30, married with two DC.. and still have no idea what I want to be Grin I am educated to degree level (law) and would consider going back into education if it were for a job I'd love, but I just have no idea what that is.

Currently a retail manager, and used to think I'd enjoy working in a school but done some voluntary work in DD's school last year and have now ruled that out.

So please tell me what you do, just throw ideas my way!

Moneypenny007 · 17/09/2018 20:57

I'm a quantity surveyor. I'm only working my way up due to the recession and my locality.
I never wanted to move away due to family etc so I'm only getting the opportunity to really gain experience now.
My dh has just started to retrain as a qs as well. He has wanted to retrain for the past few years so is taking the opportunity now to do it.
I'm always afraid I'm doing something wrong or I'm missing something.

Wonder will I ever stop feeling like this??

Jezzifishie · 17/09/2018 20:58

I work in social housing as an Asset surveyor. Doing epc's, stock condition surveys, asbestos reinspections. Love it & could write a book Grin (was a hairdresser for over 20 years, so never write anything off!!)

Thankfuckitsfriday1 · 17/09/2018 21:01

Trialsmum - can I ask what that entails? I have a SEN child and have been a TA and pre school teacher in the past and want to work with SEN children but unsure what route to take!

changedu5ername · 17/09/2018 21:04

Distance tutor, lecturer, classroom assistant, freelance assessor ... Basically, I have a cluster of part-time and rather insecure jobs that enable me to care for my family.

IThinkILoveAI · 17/09/2018 21:07

Solicitor. I love my job.

Firstbornunicorn · 17/09/2018 21:13

Got two degrees from an RG university.

Work in a call centre.

I'm 29, and I know I'd like to be a proofreader, but it takes years to build up a client base, so I'm just working through the training and dreaming of something better.

Bluntness100 · 17/09/2018 21:14

Hair stylist/salon manager
I love it. Flexible working, work on weekends when hubs is home so save on child care. Free hairdressing for myself and great discount on products. Always training and learning new techniques. Constantly need to adapt and challenge myself.
NO two days are ever the same.

Elliss2018 · 17/09/2018 21:25

I'm a nurse, work in haematology Grin

SundayAM · 17/09/2018 21:27

Police here, started early 20s not my dream job- done it 10 years now so hard to match the wage in other places once mortgages and kids get in the way. Love to change career but who knows to what!!

Pompom42 · 17/09/2018 21:28

I work in a children's nursery. Have a level 3 qualification in early years, safeguarding, first aid, health and safety.
I'm also a qualified hairdresser with a City & Guilds.
I'm going to try and get a job teaching in Pre School again as I much prefer it to nursery.

User07964 · 17/09/2018 21:30

SLT in the NHS. It’s awful. My colleague broke her leg recently and is so happy about it because she gets a long time off work. Everyone else in our team is so jealous of her.
I’ve just got a new job (not NHS) so hopeful it will be better. It couldnt be any worse.

edwinbear · 17/09/2018 21:32

Investment banker. It’s dull as fuck but I’ve been doing it for over 20 yrs now and nothing else would pay as well.

StormcloakNord · 17/09/2018 21:34

Currently manage the accounts for a small company but currently re training in Microbiology.

saturdaynightgin · 17/09/2018 21:37

I’m 28 and work in the civil service.

I’m a qualified MFL teacher, but couldn’t get a permanent job, and after having DD (now almost 3) I decided I needed something more secure than temporary contracts or daily supply.

EmilyRosiEl · 17/09/2018 21:44

Hi @User07964 can I just ask why SLT is so awful? government cuts, too much work and too little pay? Or something else?

WaitrosePigeon · 17/09/2018 21:45

Nurse in a care home

Marie0 · 17/09/2018 21:45

I make stink bombs and sell them on ebay and to joke shops

snowone · 17/09/2018 21:47
