I'm almost 30, married with two DC.. and still have no idea what I want to be Grin I am educated to degree level (law) and would consider going back into education if it were for a job I'd love, but I just have no idea what that is.

Currently a retail manager, and used to think I'd enjoy working in a school but done some voluntary work in DD's school last year and have now ruled that out.

So please tell me what you do, just throw ideas my way!

I'm an academic at an RG university.

It's a great job- lots of freedom, I get to do interesting research, most students are great, I set my own hours, I work from home 3-4 days a week, I don't feel overwhelmed by pressure, I get paid a good salary relative to what I actually do.

It's getting harder and harder to get academic jobs nowadays but the best people do make it through.

Workforce planning, but looking to move into Learning & Development.

If I could pick anything to retrain in, it would be quantity surveying.

CaligulaBlushed · 17/09/2018 16:39

I work in construction but mostly I just make super fancy awesome whizzy spreadsheets all day. Sometimes I get to walk around building sites with a hard hat and a clipboard looking important. My favourite bits are sitting in meetings with vaaiir important construction types professing that I know the absolute mostest about what we need to do because I add up all the numbers at the end of the day, so my word is LAW. I like it very much Grin

CaligulaBlushed · 17/09/2018 16:39

Ha, CaseStudy, that's technically what I do!

Pastoral support in a high school. Love it but want to be SLT eventually so going back to studies to help me progress.

stegosauruslady · 17/09/2018 16:39

I tutor GCSE students part time, which gives me a lovely combination of not working much and earning some money!

Its great for now while DC are small (and we are likely to have DC5 at some point in the next few years too) but I want to re-train and become a social worker once they are all at school.

Love it, very hard work but so rewarding.
Never get a day off, holiday pay or sick pay but wouldn’t change it for the world.

I do what @CaligulaBlushed does.

I make myself look mega busy, get on my high horse every now and then, and generally make loads of money. Actually, most of the time I'm doing very little and get paid a ton to do so Grin
