She's getting married in August. DD is a bridesmaid. She's going to scotland with her DP today and will be passing us (we live 1 1/2 hours away-ish). We arranged yesterday that we would follow them up to Carlisle (about an hours drive) and then choose the bridesmaid dress. She phoned me earlier to say she'd be with us about about 12 and that we'd have to rush into Carlisle, get the dresses and then they'd be straight off.

I was a bit peed off and suggested we do it another time, when we've got more time. I don't want to spend 2 hours in the car with the kids for the sake of 15 minutes in a busy city! I'd much rather do it on a day where we've got time to go round the shops etc together and I'm not on my own with a bored 7 and 3 yo! She was ok with that.

I suggested they called in for a coffee and a nibble (in fact, I'm halfway through making the blardy cookies!)

I told the kids we're not going, I told them we will go down to the river with fishing nets (tis like a little beach) and a picnic later on, after Granny has left.

She has just phoned me to say that they've told the person at their destination that they'll be late, so we CAN go to carlisle and not rush. I said no, we aren't going to Carlisle now and explained that I've told the kids we're doing something fun! I said we'd sort out another day soon but I could tell she was disappointed.

Should i have done that? Blardy hell - MOTHERS!

river with the fishing nets sounds fab.
Wish we could do that

BrothelSprouts · 09/06/2007 11:18

Annoying of her, but go and do the bridesmaid dress thing today, then it's done.
It sounds more like a slight hiccup in communication rather than a Bridezilla tantrum!

MamaG · 09/06/2007 11:18

you're welcome any time (except today)

MamaG · 09/06/2007 11:24

LISZ my mum's getting married, there'll be plenty of opportunity before the wedding to get the dress!

If we go, we won't have time to do something fun as its almost lunchtime now
