and my "next destination" because I'm not a UK citizen.
My next destination is home ffs - another town in the UK. I'm a UK resident and taxpayer. Why do they insist on this, other hotels don't?

I've stayed in a few hotels in the UK over the last couple years - never once asked for my passport details. Don't actually recall being asked my nationality either.

I also assume there is no law in Germany requiring hotels to be part of internal border checks and the "hostile environment" for foreigners that Theresa May, when Home Secretary, was so proud of

The Intercontinental near Berlin zoo and the Adlon both asked for my passport.

I'm neither a citizen nor resident of the UK or Europe, but I have travelled there many times, especially in the last few years.

All my hotels were pre-paid either via third part sites, or with the hotel direct. On only one occasion was I asked for a credit/debit card upon check in (Cardiff). That stands out as it was the first time it had happened in years. I don't recall being asked for my passport anywhere in particular, but it's possible that did happen (too many hotels to remember). In any event, it certainly wasn't a common occurrence if it did happen.

Where are you a citizen of?

Parker231 · 16/09/2018 11:46

I have lived in the uk since i was 5 years old but am not a uk citizen. FOr the majority of hotel bookings in the uk, I’m asked for my passport - I don’t give it a second thought. I put it down to my not being a uk citizen - no racial issues.
