I’ve started pulling together lists of ideas for Christmas. DD1 is nearly four and her list is as long as my arm. I’m stumped for DD2 though, who will be 18 months at Christmas.

She’s pretty wild and has a short attention span when it comes to toys. Chalk and cheese, my girls. DD1 loves her toys and always has played with them for hours on end.

DD2 seems to like dolls so I’m going to buy her a doll and a pram. But other than that I’m stumped.

Creeper8 · 13/09/2018 22:40

If you have a garden, a toy lawnmower that blows bubbles - I know that sounds VERY specific Grin, but I’ve bought that for several kids of that age and they’ve all played with it for years!

My 4yo DD and 18mo DS have fought like cat and dog over a fire engine this week. So maybe some vehicles? DS also likes blocks, sticker books, fat crayons, a play kitchen, and the real dishwasher.

I would consider a toy kitchen. My eldest got one at just turned 2 and it has been a massive hit with all the kids. My ds played with it from 10 months as soon as he could stand at it! 6 and 8 year old dd's still play with it.

Aw we already have a toy kitchen. She likes it she opens and closes the doors and drawers a lot.

I think this is part of the problem. Huge families who give bin bags full of presents at Christmas and birthdays (despite us asking them to scale it back) means they have tonnes of this stuff already 🤷🏻‍♀️

We got our boy a scuttlebug when be was 18 months and it was one of the best presents he had, he's only recently stopped using it at 3 (as it got given a bike). He used the scuttlebug daily before that though.

Vehicles a good idea.

DS got a scooter at that age. Big hit.
