It's a long old way to travel from Russia just for a few days. Is it a famous hotspot of history or art? Should I check it out on tripadvisor?

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 13/09/2018 13:25

Maybe the Russians are studying the Magna Carta?

Kinraddie · 13/09/2018 13:27

I actually can't believe they've gone public with this 'story'! It's crazy.

SentToTheSynByn · 13/09/2018 13:29

Just coming on to say yes, I love Sainsburys - pop in most days...

I'll just leave quietly.

haven't seen many Russian tourists in Sainsburys either

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 13/09/2018 13:30

Apparently Salisbury has a world famous spire, so famous people in Russia have heard it and covered visiting it. I live a mere few hours away and have never heard of this wonderful spire.

I also love that they said they couldn't get through the town due to the snow. Hmm They do realise they are Russians right?

I find the whole thing mindboggling. Confused

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 13/09/2018 13:30

I don’t but MIL does. She confirms you can’t move for Russians there. So er yeah, sounds plausible Hmm

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 13/09/2018 13:31

*coveted not covered Grin

AlecOrAlonzo · 13/09/2018 13:36

It's a brilliant video. They should review more British towns.

"Doncaster is a vunderful town. The races are famous not just in South Yorkshire but all over the world."

"Our friends told us all about Croydon. We knew we had to see the trams for ourselves."

girlwithadragontattoo · 13/09/2018 13:45

lol i come from Andover which is about a 15-20 minute drive from Salisbury and used to spend a lot of my weekends there (not drinking, just pottering around). I don't think i ever saw or heard Russian tourists, though you there are a number of foreign residences so to hear another language being spoken wouldn't make me think oooohhhh Russians or anything unusual

silvercuckoo · 13/09/2018 13:46

I also liked a suggestion that customs would have confiscated a women's perfume bottle from them, as they are "decent lads".
Same story as with everything else, an intentionally blatant lie to check what they could get away with. Same as with Ukraine etc.

ConferencePear · 13/09/2018 14:03

I would like to hear them interviewed by Eddie Mair or John Humphreys. Then we would know how much they liked the interior of the building, especially the clock.

Putin is just laughing at Britain

longwayoff · 13/09/2018 16:49

Russians everywhere and nothing but snow, oh no, hang on that's er, Russia isnt it?

longwayoff · 13/09/2018 16:52

Still comrades, if anyone is planning a visit to the cathedral, it has a very impressive font. Beautiful piece of design.

Satsumaeater · 13/09/2018 16:55

My cousin does.

The funniest thing about this story is that they got the train, on a Sunday, to Heathrow. Nobody can use a train on a Sunday in the UK!

I live a mere few hours away and have never heard of this wonderful spire

Really? To be fair, it is quite a famous cathedral.

Doesn't mean the story isn't utter rubbish though.
