Posting this here for traffic.
I used this company to book a hotel close to the NEC to go to an exhibition. Booked through a link from Trip Advisor. Yes I was attracted by the price. The NEC was going to be busy place that weekend with several events , so prices were quite high.
AMOMA are a company based in Switzerland so it’s more difficult to get redress it seems.
This is how they work. They offer hotel prices at a very low price to attract customers , take their money then start looking around for rooms. Surprise , surprise , due to demand that weekend they can’t get any. A short time before I go they say the booking cannot be honoured but here is a hotel some distance away , that that does have rooms , would I like that one?
No good to me , if I had wanted a hotel several miles away I would have booked it at the time, at a cheaper rate too! Looking at the hotel website I would have paid £11 less in any case by booking direct. God knows what profit AMOMA are making by booking in bulk and then charging me more than what the hotel charge anyway. Of course prices are higher at the NEC , people like me pay for the convenience of staying close by , not miles away where hotels are cheaper but less convenient.
Of course some people will probably have a good experience with them but this will be because the place they want to stay in is not oversubscribed and I bet people post here to say so.
But this company appears to deliberately offer low prices to attract , knowing they won’t be able to honour them and then off load their hotels they can’t fill to unsuspecting customers.
So if you see a very low price offered by this company DO NOT take it up. It will be a scam.
I am now waiting for a refund but it appears that having looked on some forums even this might be difficult.
I have now booked direct with Premier Hotels , it cost a lot more but at least I have a room for the night.
