Truly Madly Deeply with Alan Rickman and Juliet Stephenson - when he returns as a ghost - this is the trailer:

I love Brief Encounter

alittlequinnie · 12/09/2018 11:21

I'm not sure it's old fashioned but I like the bit in Desperately Seeking Susan when Des picks Roberta up of the floor and carries her into the bedroom!

ShalomJackie · 12/09/2018 11:24

When Richard Gere goes into the factory to sweep Debra Winger off her feet in uniform. Officer and a Gentleman.

When Ryan O'Neal gets on the bed when Ali McGraw is dying in Love Story

When the Captain asks Maria to dance in The Sound Of Music, and one of the children asks why her cheeks have gone red at the end of it.

In Rear Window, when Grace Kelly wakes James Stewart with a kiss swoons

DontCallMeCharlotte · 12/09/2018 11:42

Muriel's Wedding when he kisses her after the funeral. It's like an electric shock when I see it and made me openly weep in the cinema which was very embarrassing, not least since it's meant to be a comedy!

This scene from The Piano: m.youtube.com/watch?v=GPDwOGyqRwc

And this description, beautifully written (as is the whole book), so that it’s a love scene as much as a sex scene, from the novella Brokeback Mountain:
They seized each other by the shoulders, hugged mightily, squeezing the breath out of each other, saying, son of a bitch, son of a bitch, then, and easily as the right key turns the lock tumblers, their mouths came together, and hard, Jack’s big teeth bringing blood, his hat falling to the floor, stubble rasping, wet saliva welling, and the door opening and Alma looking out for a few seconds at Ennis’s straining shoulders and shutting the door again and still they clinched, pressing chest and groin and thigh and leg together, treading on each other’s toes until they pulled apart to breathe and Ennis, not big on endearments, said what he said to his horses and his daughters, little darlin.

Cleopatra - Richard Burton and Elizabeh Taylor.

Need a whole afternoon to sit down and watch it now though.

gabsdot · 12/09/2018 12:00

Obviously the "It isn't over scene from the notebook"

MorrisZapp · 12/09/2018 12:08

Oh god yes, Desperately Seeking Susan. The best film of my young adulthood.

vampirethriller · 12/09/2018 13:36

Colin Firth and Rupert Everett in the second St Trinians, where they kiss onstage in the Globe. It's so sweet it's worth watching the whole film for Grin

Aprilsinparis · 12/09/2018 13:43

The scene where the Rhett Butler carries Scarlet up that sweeping staircase, to have his wicked way with her, swooon.

Eminybob · 12/09/2018 13:54

The first time Jess and Nick kiss in New Girl. Genuinely had me swooning.

Genderwitched · 12/09/2018 14:07

Bette Davis and Paul Henreid in Now Voyager, the 'we have the stars' scene at the end. So romantic.

OlennasWimple · 12/09/2018 14:12

Burt Lancaster and Debra Winger on the beach in From Here to Eternity

Never mind that it's completely impractical to roll around on the beach, I love how chaste it is (they lie next to each other, not on top) but also erotic

Piffle11 · 12/09/2018 14:14

The scene in 'Moonstruck' where Cher and Nicolas Cage meet at the opera: from when she gets out of the cab and the La Boheme music starts, and the moment he turns and sees her … fab.

FuckKnuckle · 12/09/2018 14:43

Six Days Seven Nights (I know it got a panning from the critics, but I love it), when Harrison Ford and Ann Heche's characters have only just escaped with their lives and crawl exhausted up onto the beach - all their previous reserve is forgotten and they just fall on each other.

It's at about 44 seconds into this video.

twoseven · 12/09/2018 19:31

Roman holiday, where Audrey Hepburn is about to get out of the car and go back to her life and she tells Gregory Peck not to watch her once she hets past the corner.

MargotLovedTom1 · 12/09/2018 19:47

Totally agree with Jess & Nick in New Girl. So much build up and anticipation and it didn't disappoint. Also when Richard Gere climbed the fire escape in Pretty Woman and held his arms open brandishing flowers. Dodgy film I know, but God I love that man!

Vitalogy · 12/09/2018 19:56

I've not seen that before OP. What's the film?

I'll come back with my fav, I'm still thinking.

Although, when you said old fashioned I thought you meant Silver Screen era.

MissusGeneHunt · 12/09/2018 20:05

Truly Madly Deeply - forever. Sigh. RIP lovely Alan.

Petalflowers · 12/09/2018 20:08

I have a soft spot for when Sheldon meets Amy in Big Bang Theory. It’s not conventially romantic, but is very sweet.

Bullnoway · 12/09/2018 20:08
