She’s smashed their iPads? Poor darlings won’t have anything to do in cattle class now....

Maybe she’ll give them crafting stuff to keep them busy....

Your suggestions please (and yes, light-hearted before I get politely slammed for suggesting iPads are necessary entertainment for children on planes —they are— )

ReanimatedSGB I think you are over egging the pudding a bit. You don't have to be in a blind rage to destroy something. You can perfectly calmly carry out a threat if it has been ignored (presumably she had warned them several times not to break the rule?). I think it's a waste, I would prefer the cash, but that's up to her. Her house, her rules, her ipads.

ReanimatedSGB · 11/09/2018 11:10

To do that sort of thing calmly is even worse. It's deliberate, calculated cruelty. People who think that's 'good parenting' are teaching their kids that it's fine to abuse people for disagreeing with you, if you have any kind of power over them. Those Youtube clips are fucking terrifying: scumbags taking pride in the distress and humliation they can inflict on their children.

Thecrabbypatty · 11/09/2018 11:26

ReanimatedSGB alright calm yourself. Clearly Kirsty Allsop should be getting her wash bag ready for prison Hmm

corythatwas · 11/09/2018 11:40

It's not perhaps abusive but it is:

i) extremely wasteful which is problematic in a time when

a) lots of families can't afford even basic technology to further their children's education
b) the environmental backlash of waste is becoming increasingly apparent

ii) completely missing the opportunity to teach her children better ways of dealing with frustration and undesirable behaviour

iii) making her come across as a bit batshit which may not be helpful as her children grow older- ime the key to parenting teenagers is to make them believe in your inherent competence and sensibleness

Not something I would boast about in the national press tbh.

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 11/09/2018 11:43

I have no opinion on here one way or another and if I had the money I'd have packed my little shits off to boarding school.

What she was being vv unreasonable about was smashing the iPads when I could've had at least one to replace my very old one and on its last legs Hmm

And I actually quite like her Christmas programmes using twiggy shit to make tasteful Christmas decs. It's just a shame I never have any intention of actually creating any twiggy shit myself Grin

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 11/09/2018 11:45

And I forgot to add, I've been on the brink of smashing my son's Xbox into a billion pieces and at the time I couldn't have given a shiny shit about the waste of doing it. Obvs I'm not a perfect parent like all the outraged ones on here...

lightonthewater · 11/09/2018 11:53

She says on her twitter they are fixed now She smashed them because her sons wouldn't stop playing Fortnite. So why give them the game in the first place???!!
I do think the thing about her and her husband sitting in first class whilst her kids are in the 'normal' seats is absolutely ludicrous. She needs to get a reality check.

Collywobbles1984 · 11/09/2018 12:18

Just looked her up on Twitter and think she may have deleted her account?

Lethaldrizzle · 11/09/2018 12:21

Yes it's not the iPad that's the problem - it's fortnite. Her mistake was letting it into their lives in the first place.

Lydiaatthebarre · 11/09/2018 13:38

don't always agree with what kirsty says and sometimes she opens her mouth before she thinks, but the vitriol and nastiness on this thread is shocking. You sound like a bunch of bitchy schoolgirls.

Oh and my cousin's wife is related to Phil and he and kirsty get along fine and are amused at rumours that they don't.

neffall · 11/09/2018 14:34

Yes, her Twitter account has been disabled, according to the BBC news site.

And the moral of this story? Don't air your dirty laundry in public and smash up your iPads in secret Grin(this is a joke)

OneDayIWish · 11/09/2018 14:35

According to BBC News she has now left twitter after the response to her breaking the iPads.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 11/09/2018 16:25

It’s very hard , nigh in Impossible to stop an 11 year old from getting Fortnite

Flame me if you wish - but peer pressure is immense in this

Anyway given the many threads on this it’s clearly an issue

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/09/2018 16:44

Dd has confirmed that she hates Fortnite. Good I’d say. A kid even came to school with a Fortnite PE kit with guns on it.

Bluelady · 11/09/2018 16:44

She's always leaving Twitter and then going back again.

I'm quite surprised nobody's had a go at her oft vaunted belief that women are wasting their most fertile years in further education and they should settle down and have babies instead.

iamnotanumber10 · 11/09/2018 18:17

She doesn’t strike me as the most self aware of people she probably had no clue that we plebs were going to re-act like this...

StorminaBcup · 12/09/2018 09:39

Oh and my cousin's wife is related to Phil and he and kirsty get along fine and are amused at rumours that they don't.

That'll teach me for listening to gossip then won't it!

Snoopychildminder · 12/09/2018 09:44

Isn’t she a relative of Cath Kidson...useless bit of infro there Grin

She is repulsive. I reckon she only said she smashed them up because she loves to brag about how much money she has. It’s gross. It’s the whole I fly first class whilst my 10yr old is in economy all over again

Maybugger · 12/09/2018 09:48

Nothing 'poor' about Kirsty Allsop, she's not exactly poverty-stricken.

neffall · 12/09/2018 09:55

Catch Kidson is her cousin.

iamnotanumber10 · 12/09/2018 09:56

She flounces off Twitter quite a bit doesn’t she? I think of you e set yourself up in a position where you tell people what to do with their lives/kids/homes you should expect a bit of flack.

GabsAlot · 12/09/2018 10:07

theyre going to talk about it on jeremy vine poor kirsty

Rebecca36 · 12/09/2018 10:20

They'll get over it and have new ones for Christmas. Perhaps we ought to get over it too, nobody died.

whifflesqueak · 12/09/2018 11:00

An awful woman who perfectly represents everything which happens to wrong in England today.

Grin

She’s a silly bint but that is a bit harsh.

bobbinsand · 12/09/2018 12:05

Lol and I thought I had a bad day yesterday! At least I'm not plaster d all over the BBC.
