To withhold treats from my cat this evening after he failed to catch a huge spider for me?!!

There was just a monster sized spider running around my living room. My cat seemed to be doing his job of discarding it for me but he then got bored and just walked off. I’ve just had to spend the last 20 minutes shrieking and trying to psych myself up to put a bowl over it for my DP to deal with tomorrow morning.
The cat is in disgrace!

YANBU.
I have never been able to train mine to do this either. She just looks at them and then looks at me and then chases after her toy bloody mice.

I'm not sure what purpose she serves 2bh.

The cat will catch it later and deliver it to your pillow as a gift.

Mine pounced at it a couple of times and then just wandered off. Useless sod!

Our cat will go after the spiders, but then she eats them and leaves spider legs lying about the place 🙄

Frosty66611 · 09/09/2018 21:25

@Bellini I bloody hope not! I’ve got a bowl over it with a heavy book on top so it can’t escape. Although judging by the size of it it probably has muscles of steel and will be able to get out

Maybe it's talked to my cat who sees loads of interest in chasing an insect but then won't actually pounce catch or kill it.

Unhurried · 09/09/2018 21:31

Totally dock the fuckers wages Wink

Frosty66611 · 09/09/2018 21:36

He’ll be on Dreamies rations for the foreseeable future!

My dog just tried to lunge at a spider in our bedroom. Dog's a GSD but spider was nearly as big! I was shrieking telling DH to get it before it ran under the bed. Didn't want dog to scare it into fucking hiding incase it came out when I was asleep.

My cat is on the useless spectrum, she was very interested in something in the kitchen I was totally spooked (could it be a mouse, rat, cockroach, cricket) I entered my fear zone!...dum dum dah.. it was a upturned dustpan lol

LadyOdd · 09/09/2018 21:41

She was doing Butt wiggles crouching, backing away classic cat interest/careful.

Ethylred · 09/09/2018 22:09

Well what do you do for her?
And don't give us the food/shelter/cuddles rubbish, that was in the cat/human contract anyway. What do you do that's extra?
