To feel annoyed about being told that maybe I should stay in bed tomorrow

My mother has just told me that "maybe I should stay in bed tomorrow". She knows that I have a day off and have no plans. Today I have been feeling upset and worried about a situation (partly to do with her) and she has seen me as tired and emotional. Hence the suggestion to rest tomorrow. This feels condescending and passive aggressive to me, given that I am an adult and am perfectly entitled to feel upset, but apparently it was meant kindly and for my benefit. Who is being unreasonable?

You’re not giving very much detail but I think you might be being a little U. It’s not like you have to. Pick your battles, ignore and move on.

Based on the scant information you sound like YABU but impossible to say for sure without more detail.

Sounds like she’s trying to help and can see you need a break? Sometimes other people can see it clearer than we can (I’m currently in the middle of 13 days working with no break, something which I do not recommend to others but struggle to say no myself.

Meh.

Move on.

You sound a little precious.
