Never. They will regret it when they are older

I reckon the YouTuber bubble is about to burst anyway with over saturation

MoistCantaloupe · 08/09/2018 21:44

It depends what content they are making. Instinctively id say 16, but again, the content output would matter

greendale17 · 08/09/2018 21:45

Never

nancy75 · 08/09/2018 21:46

Unless they are doing something where you can’t see them ( like playing a game & you only see the screen not the child) I would massively encourage them not to do it

musicinspring1 · 08/09/2018 21:47

I hate YouTube. I want to say never but if that’s not practical then I’d say 13 with lots and lots of boundaries and guidelines put in place.

When I felt that they were in a place mentally to deal with the mean and nasty things that will -without a shadow of a doubt- be said to them. So I suppose I wouldn't allow a child to have one at all. Only an adult who is aware of the risks that come along with 'living life online', I personally think it's a toxic lifestyle choice

Birdsgottafly · 08/09/2018 21:51

I think it would need to be 15+. There is less likely to be bullying starting at that age because they know who there social circle is and how to handle anything that would start. Plus they would be leaving school within a year.

smallchanceofrain · 08/09/2018 21:52

Never - because you can't put the genie back in the bottle.

DS1 is an accomplished YouTuber but I worry about it taking over his life and we've had many battles.

DS2 (aged 13) would watch it 12 hours a day if he could. The battles are just starting with him. Ironically his first piece of homework for this academic year started with the words. "Go on YouTube and search for....".

GoJohnnyGoGoGoGo · 08/09/2018 21:54

Never. I'm a secondary teacher and have witnessed the fallout from students finding old you tube channels of other students.
