To ask why in some hotel rooms they have telephones in the toilet?

Exactly that! I have stayed in a few that had this and I could never find a reason for it?

Do you phone down to the front desk if you have run out of loo roll? Or is it for moral support if you’re passing a rather difficult movement?

Isn't it just the height of 80s/Dallas posh?

girlywhirly · 07/09/2018 22:37

Could it be to summon help if you have a fall or become very ill?

Skyecat · 07/09/2018 22:51

In case you're in need of imodium?

Smidge001 · 07/09/2018 22:56

I'm assuming it's to summon help if you've slipped in the bath or on the fancy marble floors. I always worry about my parents in hôtel bathrooms! I quite like the comfort factor of knowing there's a phone within reach

AvoidingDM · 07/09/2018 22:58

I'm thinking its a throw back to days before mobiles. But the big question is who will confess to using one and who did they call?

Bluntness100 · 07/09/2018 23:02

I'd assume so you can answer the phone easily if you're in there.

I don't mean actually on the loo, but in the bath, having a shower, brushing your teeth, whatever, you don't have to rush back into the bedroom.

I stayed in a hotel in Mexico where there was one in the toilet, which was separate from the main bathroom. It was exactly the right height to use whilst on the loo. Very strange.

Faerie87 · 08/09/2018 08:07

Yeah, it’s actually in the toilet cubicle, not near the bath or shower, it would make sense for it to be near the bath if you slip but the ones I’m talking about is next to the toilet!
