Child Maintenance - Has child maintenance taken legal action on your non paying parent?

Hi,
I've had an on going case with The Child Maintenance Services since the end of May 2017.

My ex partner has ignored all letters and calls from them and still hasn't paid a penny towards our son.

I spoke to Child Maintenance today and they said that they will be starting legal action against him within the next 2 weeks.

My question is... has anyone had legal action taken against their ex partner for not paying Child Maintenance? If so what do they actually do?

Many Thanks

Yes. It is a slow process. They essentially go to court to get CCJs. They then send in bailiffs. When that doesn’t work, they put charges on my ex’s house and followed that through to get his house sold. Unfortunately, because he loves with his girlfriend and child, they would not make another child, homeless so that action stopped. There is thousands owing (although I eventually closed the case) and I have never seen a penny.
don’t hold your breath.

Yes as oh really says it's a long drawn out process. My daughter is in her early 20s and we are still struggling to obtain arrears tonthe vaule of £20k. Several liability orders granted and visits from bailiffs. He has set up several direct debits o my got him to cancel them with in days.
There are many ways they can avoid paying with this flailing system.
In 20 years we have had about £600 paid off.
I won't let it go though. He will die owning this money if that's what it takes.
We really need a revised system. Way too many children living in poverty while the non resident lives a lavish life style.

They obtained CCJs, he didn’t pay. They just basically gave up. He owes me £18k+. Never going to see a penny of it. Been going on years and they do not give a fig.

Good luck. They’re all talk, no action.

It's gone to court twice and bailiff action and they've not got a penny from my ex

It was a while ago, but court action was taken against my ex. It took them ages to get the money but they did enforce the debt. One they have the Liability Order, the debt doesn't die. Eventually they found out where he was working and put a DEO on his wages for current maintenance and his arrears. It took about 15 years to get every penny back, but I got it eventually.
