B&M horror show!

Most of the time I can work out if I am being a bit precious or not but I can't make my mind up here...

Every year around this time the local B&M stores are absolutely full of awful, demonic and scary Halloween decorations. I don't mean goofy Halloween. I mean like a scary adult Freddy Kruger kind of party...

It's not a case of avoid the aisle with DD who is 4. The stuff is everywhere on every aisle. Even at the bloody checkout. Clearly we can just avoid going there for a couple months but is it not a bit daft of them?

TBH my DD just stood wide eyed and mouth open at the decrepit old hag witch hanging in her face at the checkout as I tried to divert her and pack a bag.

Aibu that I think they should keep it in a set aisle??

the decrepit old hag witch hanging in her face at the checkout

Look, OP, I had a terrible night with the toddler and I don't have time to put my makeup on when I'm looking after him.

I hate B&M's Halloween stuff! I thought much the same this morning. But I love TK Maxx's Grin The most wonderful time of the year!

Wellerr not everyone can afford to go to M&S, John Lewis and Waitrose. Their section is very good, often half the price of the supermarket. YOu can get cheap kitchen and housewear there too.

That decrepit old hag witch comment is going to come back to haunt me! ..... GrinGrin Halo

I hate them too. And I work there! At least you haven't had to walk past it all after they've turned the lights off at the end of the day. 😉

Thankfully I'm on maternity leave until next year so don't have to look at them this year. Or the pole-dancing Santas when they come in...

I like BM discontinued food, I have found Start cereal at last, and Betty Crocker Carrot cake mix is lovely.

LOL at the 'What's B & M ?' comments...... I can only assume people have been living in a cave for the past 40 years if they have not heard of B & M!

I love B & M, and Wilkos too. And the Halloween displays are ace.

decrepit old hag witch

Not very nice to describe a customer like this op Grin

Oops! I thought OP was talking about the checkout cashier Grin Grin

MrsSpenserGregson · 06/09/2018 15:42

I also have never heard of B&M and had to google it. I haven't been living in a cave for 40 years Grin but I don't have a B&M in my town and I don't watch live TV so if they advertise I must have missed them as we always scroll through the adverts when watching catch-up. However, the decrepit old hag witch sounds ace! I suspect some of my customers would describe me as such Grin

I agree OP. It's quite obvious there's a difference between 'adult' horror and fun creepy stuff aimed at kids.

In our soft play last year they put up this horrible rotting head at the counter which was so realistic it was upsetting to look at. They took it down after a couple of comments. They left up the nasty bleeding full size upside down crucified skeleton hanging over the party room though Hmm This place is aimed at under 7's ...

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/09/2018 16:21

DD refuses to go in our local coop in the run up to Hallowe'en because they have a full size talking spooky butler. It is motion activated so as soon as you join the queue it will move and start talking. It is quite freaky for an adult, so I dont blame her for being scared. I have heard from a friend who works there that it may not be coming out this year as last year they lost alot lof custom to the One Stop over that period and the area manager wasnt happy :o

Sassenach85 · 06/09/2018 16:33

I just don't understand the logic in these shops doing this kind of thing. A dedicated section/aisle fair enough. But why is it okay to have very adult themed products ALL over the place because it's Halloween and kids love "spooky stuff"? There's a difference between a cartoon ghost and blood soaked life like zombie. I didn't realise it was so widespread I have only come across it in B&M. (Having a wee giggle at people who have never heard of B&M though) Grin

I'm guessing B&M is like Poundland/Morissons/Wilco ect? We have those first three in the towns round here but nothing called B&M.

Laiste · 06/09/2018 16:50

We have The Range too! Grin

And yes their stuff was full on last year as well. Went past some of it with DD to get to the xmas lights and were a bit Hmm at a couple of bits.
