Toddler shitting in the park!

Husband and I have just had words (low, snarky, passive aggressive words) because I said to take the toddler to the Dentist literally across from the car and ask to use the loo but he was adamant he was taking her to the park approx 5min away, across a set of traffic lights to squat hopefully behind a bush and poo!

We’d got timings wrong and the baby woke early from a nap with a poonami and crying for milk. I was mid clean up with the baby on the passengers seat when toddler (who just been to the loo not 5 mins ago to pee) cried for a poo!

Convo went like this:
M: take her to the dentist just there
H: no I’ll just take her to the park
M: the dentist is just there!!! Don’t make her poo in the park
H: she won’t mind! Does the detist even have toilets?
M: I don’t know but probably just go
H: don’t ask me if I want to do something if you’re really telling me! no I’ll take her to the park
H: you do it then, go on. I’ll do this (finish baby’s nappy)
me gives exasperated look
M: sure and you can feed him too (baby is bf)
H: don’t roll your eyes at me
Then he walks of muttering to our toddler!!!

Who’s being unreasonable?

If you've got no choice it's better than pooing your pants

It’s our dentist but we’re fairly new there so I don’t think they’d recognise us.
The park (neither really country side or busy town) is a large open park with lots of space for dogs to run, the kids play area is separate and a bit away from the entrance. This is the first time we’ve had this dilemma so don’t think we just let our DD defecate all over the place.
She is newly potty trained and would have held it in to make it near by but probably not in the time it would take to finish changing the baby’s nappy put them both back in their car seat and get home. We do usually have spare potty in the car but unpacked the car from a week away and just didn’t think about if it was in the car or not (parent fail).

It wasn’t a question if she could hold it or not it was more the fact DH was to embarrassed to ask to use a toilet and would have preferred the anonymity of hiding in the park and cleaning it up after. However SHE DID POO IN THE PARK and mummy will make sure I always keep a potty in the car. Lesson learnt!

I get the impression that the OP was more concerned about her daughter's comfort in the battle of dentist vs park than having a particular attack of the vapours over the poo itself. I would always choose to take mine to a toilet if that is an option rather than encouraging them to shit in a bush. The fact that the poo didn't materialise suggests that the daughter might not have been a fan of al fresco dumps either.

Can't believe the number of posters who have never had an alfresco dump.Have you never been to the countryside. What do you do when you are on a long walk?

I live in the countryside and have never done this. On a long walk I just don't shit anywhere!
