AIBU to ask you all your worst and best housemate stories! I'm preparing some of my year 13 students for university and college where they will be living away from home (different countries) and want to go through some scenarios with them.

Worst: In a flat share, we each had our own kitchen cupboard so didn't know / care what was in other cupboards. The kitchen began to have a strange odour that got worse by the day, until it could be borne no longer. It turned out one flat mate had a dead pheasant in their cupboard.

Best: a wonderfully wide and diverse social group, met lovely, lovely people, either flatmates or their social circle, resulting in THE best socialising of a lifetime.

@9amtrain i remember your post on that. What was the court outcome?

@CityFarmer There wasn't a hearing or anything, it was a money claim in the end. I had to keep submitting it because I was being told different things and my county court wouldn't deal with it. In the end it was a money claim for my deposit and the landlord agreed and returned it, but still got nowhere with the technicality of whether my tenancy existed until the end.

Hopefully it's over now.
