To ask you about thick tights

What tights do I need to get that will not go see through at the top like these ones in the picture? I'm needing size 20 also. Leggings frowned upon in my industry.

Sorry I'm a bit confused. If you are looking for tights won't you be wearing a skirt/dress over the top. If you mean you want to wear the tights as leggings I don't think that will be acceptable if your industry doesn't like leggings. Surely tights would be worse?

Banana8080 · 03/09/2018 17:42

120 denier in your size or one size above.

eBay great for a wide range of sizes.

Lonecatwithkitten · 03/09/2018 17:43

They are dance tights I am not certain they go up to 20.
Marks and Spencer's do some footed 100 denier tights it might be worth looking at them.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 03/09/2018 17:43

I've had some like that from primark. They might not have their full range in yet though.

LutherRalph1 · 03/09/2018 17:44

Try primark tights

ooodile · 03/09/2018 17:45

I've seen this new ( I think) company on Instagram - and reckon they'd be your best bet.

snagtights.com

TheresAlwaysAnAskHole · 03/09/2018 17:57

@Storm4star

I would be wearing dresses but they are above knee dresses. It's for extra piece of mind, I'm a teacher so may have to stretch up high or bend down over a desk to help a student. I'm not talking my bum on show but my upper thighs. In those type of tights they just go see through and make it look like heavy cellulite.

If you can wear boots, Asda do some lovely leggings that are a bit shiny like tights, but are really thick. I wear them with ankle boots and everyone assumes they are tights. Stay up better than tights too

nokidshere · 03/09/2018 18:11

I bought some snag tights this week ready for autumn/winter, they are fantastic. Soft, strong, fit perfectly, no effort or "tight dancing" to get them on or off and absolutely no rolling down or slipping.

TheActualLastJedi · 03/09/2018 18:13

I think the issue here is two fold.

Most denier tights will go slightly thinner when stretched regardless of what size the wearer is. But I'm confused about why you would wear an above the knee dress of your likely to be stretching up and bending over desks. That's just asking for trouble, could you not wear mid calf skirts or below the knee skirts/dresses.

My uniform is a tailored shift dress provided by the company, they must be below the knee even if they need to be altered to do so.

sonjadog · 03/09/2018 18:16

I’m the same size as you. M&S 60 denier in XL work fine for me and are not transparent. They do 80 and 100 denier as well if you prefer them.

Tanaqui · 03/09/2018 18:18

Do you mean you want tights like the ones in the pic, or ones not like the ones in the pic? (I’m probably being really stupid!). Do they have to be footless? If you are wearing boots over the top I would get proper tight leggings (like gym ones) and just say they are (dance) tights! Otherwise how about knitted/ ribbed/ cable tights? But most thin fabric will go thinner on the thighs after a while if that is the problem. I always size up in tights too, seems to help.

sourpatchkid · 03/09/2018 18:20

Primark tend to do a thermal tight which is really thick (like leggings)

Seacow87 · 03/09/2018 18:22

New look do great 120 denier

ConsistentInsomniac · 03/09/2018 18:23

H&M do 200 denier tights. They’re brilliant.

Katescurios · 03/09/2018 18:24

@nokidshere yay, saw snag tights ages ago and read all t he good reviews on the website but can never be sure their real revie ws not paid for. So glad to see theyre ood, im order ing some now.

Storm4star · 03/09/2018 18:30

Ah ok, sorry I was clearly being a bit dim there! What about woolly tights? dependent on weather of course. I love my woolly tights in the winter and they are really thick with no "visible" area so might work well for you.

OrdinaryGirl · 03/09/2018 18:30

I tend to find choosing a size up in opaque tights gives a much more opaque look, with no bagging or wrinkling.

nokidshere · 03/09/2018 18:31

@Katescurios you won't be disappointed, they are really nice 👍🏻

BarryTheKestrel · 03/09/2018 18:34

Primark fleece lined tights stay thick and don't go see through, but being cheap they do go out of shape pretty quickly.

Fatted · 03/09/2018 18:35

Woolley tights.

Or wear two pairs at once.

GrumpyInsomniac · 03/09/2018 18:40

Snag tights are excellent - and you've reminded me it's time to order some for the colder weather :)

Land0r · 03/09/2018 18:47

Storm4star and Fatted Where are you buying woolly tights from please? Need to buy school tights for DD1 - she's 12 but tall. Last year she had M&S school tights in age 13-14 but that's the biggest they do which is a shame as they're lovely tights. Uniform shop had a size for 'teens' but these were smaller than the M&S ones (yes, I asked if I could measure!). She'll go back in socks, but that's only allowed up until half term, so I need to find tights soon.

BatteredBitties · 03/09/2018 18:53

@Land0r I've had some from Boyes

Sundayblues13 · 03/09/2018 18:58

I get mine for school from primark or Asda but wear two pairs nothing being seen through them x
