To think that Royal Mail are bang out of order

Today’s post has just arrived and along with the post is a letter from consumer refund service advertising PPI refund services. The envelope had no address and it was a round robin “dear house holder”.

I’m very careful with my address and personal details because I don’t want shit like this through my letter box. I’m assuming they’ve paid a fee to RM to bung this inane rubbish through people’s letter boxes as they don’t have my address.

Can I take this up with RM? Are they allowed to just randomly do this? We live in the middle of nowhere so I don’t get random people shoving dominos crap through the door and I’d like to only receive genuine mail.

Yanbu, we use the junk mail preference service but can't get Royal Mail to stop posing junk.

ToadOfSadness · 03/09/2018 16:48

They are paid to deliver junk mail with the normal mail. There was an opt out at one time, if they still do it you can find it on the RM website.

Our postie said a lot of the income came from that, so asked us not to opt out.
