Hi there,

My daughter is 12 and part of a musical theatre group (rather small) she has been picked to sing a song with a boy who is 15, it's a romantic song, obviously implying they're together, I know it's just acting, but still.

Would you be okay with this?

Yes

Sirzy · 02/09/2018 21:00

It’s acting why would it be a problem?

ThePricklySheep · 02/09/2018 21:01

Yes, is there more to it?

FASH84 · 02/09/2018 21:01

It's not real, of course it's fine

Septembermummy1 · 02/09/2018 21:01

It probably is just for the show, I would be fine with it. If your worried talk to your DD and just casually ask her if there's anything more to it.

Crunched · 02/09/2018 21:01

Perfectly fine and normal

sharws · 02/09/2018 21:01

No there isn't any more to it Grin clearly I'm thinking far far too much into it. I don't know. Just needed some clarification on others thoughts.

Yes, it’s part of the show.

If you don’t think DD should be doing it then she shouldn’t be doing any acting or musical theatre.

Returnofthesmileybar · 02/09/2018 21:02

Of course Confused

funinthesun18 · 02/09/2018 21:03

Yes I would be ok with it. What is there not be ok with?

sharws · 02/09/2018 21:03

I was just surprised at the way they chose. Seems a bit of an age gap really. He's like a young man and her a child. She's only been doing this 4 months so it's all new to me. Thanks for opening my eyes :)

We did Romeo and Juliet and school at that age. Sex and death!

EvaHarknessRose · 02/09/2018 21:06

I think if its going to look cringy or sound inappropriate you should speak up! Otherwise fine.

funinthesun18 · 02/09/2018 21:12

They might think her vocals sound more grown up and mature Smile

dancinfeet · 02/09/2018 21:17

It would depend on how they both looked when side by side/on stage together - if she looks a very young 10 and he is very mature it may come across as a bit cringy or awkward. Or if she has a very young / little girly sounding voice.
If they match fairly well then I would have no problem with it.

dancinfeet · 02/09/2018 21:17

apologies, just seen that she is 12, not 10
