DBS check

I know it's not a AIBU thread but I wasn't getting any response on my other one - So I attended the police station a while back for a VA, I was read my rights but not arrested or cautioned (I don't think). My question is will this show up on an enhanced DBS check? The job is for a role in healthcare.

OP it might come up on an enhanced if they feel it is relevant, eg breach of trust, theft from an employer, also depends how long ago, six months more likely than six years .
Regarding the youth order from a PP it would have to be something serious to be noted on an adult DBS, I work in the criminal justice sector and even we employ people with things on their DBS so it's not a barrier, a colleague of mine had a shop theft and anti social behaviour when she was a youth, she disclosed it because she thought it'd show on DBS, it didn't, but her way of being open about it, the impact on her life and the subsequent changes she made and goals she'd achieved probably went a long way towards getting her foot in the door at practitioner level as her qualifications were not relevant to the role. Also the question is often around unspent convictions or spent convictions rather than arrests, so if his was an out of court disposal (common for youths especially first offences) it's technically a sanction not a conviction so it wouldn't be a lie not to declare it.

Gettingback - thanks, that's what DS thought. I just thought as it was a one off so young, although very serious, he could forget about it. HTH but better to know.

Also OP I'm assuming by VA you mean voluntary attendance, where you would've been questioned. Following that was there any disposal? Most likely are simple caution, conditional caution, penalty notice for disorder or a community resolution. If no disposal you should've been told the would be no further action, or did you have to sign anything? Happy for you to PM me if giving more details here would be too outing

FASH no disposal, they said they don't think they'd need to see me again but my solicitor has been in touch since and asked if I would make an official statement which I said no. Still waiting to hear back from that last conversation

@shuthefrontdoor if there's no disposal it won't show on an enhanced unless there's a connection to risk with your employer eg intel you were dealing prescription pain meds and you apply for a job in a hospital with access to similar.

Arrrgghh! It's still not back, 6 weeks and counting x

Some areas just take ages , it doesn't necessarily mean anything other than an overload , remember its summer holiday time and they may be short staffed

If you've ever lived in London it will take even longer, my first took about six weeks, DH had a couple of former London addresses and his took twelve, similar with colleagues. After the first they tend to take four to six weeks

shuthefrontdoor · 11/09/2018 23:13

No never lived in London. I just assumed it would be back fairly quickly, me and my colleague sent it off at the same time and hers come back within a week. I guess it's the luck of th draw x

It can come back quickly if you have certain criteria ie no change of address ( less to search ) or a gun certificate ( already have info of your id and some history of address ) or it's not your first check . but if you've moved a few times , have a common name , or as I said previously overwhelmed with applications it can take a while

I was voluntarily arrested for assault but not charged years ago and had an enhanced DBS check for work and it didn't show. I was not guilty (honest!)
