9 month old is super constipated , have tried prunes , and have been giving him paediatric movicol (CosmoCol) since Saturday morning. There's been no improvement at all, and he is screaming in pain for the most part. Aibu to take him to out of hours ?

It was called microlax.

Sympathies. It's so distressing.

Btw, we haven't had any trouble since 18 months and dd has just turned three. Hard to believe at the time I know, but chrnic constipation really does pass, as they get more active.

Try real brown sugar with boiling water and let cool. Not light brown sugar has to be dark brown and quite a lot of it.

Glycerin suppositories are the best IMO - my sons have only ever been intermittently constipated and the glycerin has always done the job swiftly and with minimal side effects.

I was about to say about the dark brown sugar, When my son was a baby (24 now) my very wise MIL suggested it... it worked very well, just a couple of spoonfuls of quite a syrupy mixture.
