AIBU to be devastated by my white pubic hair?

First post on here, so bare with me. Showering earlier today and glanced down to notice a pure white pubic hair staring back at me. Over the past year I have noticed a few white hairs appearing on my head and cannot help but pluck them out, but this white pubic hair has made me feel old and slightly disheartened that age is catching up with me. I am 35 and relatively fit after having 2 children before 30 and being an avid gym goer. My partner is 18 years older than me but looks my age as he is a huge gym goer. He is constantly complementing me on my looks and tells me he loves me all the time. I do not take compliments very well and this cheeky pube hasnt helped! AIBU to be so upset about this and just embrace what is happening to my body. 😒

It does. Shaving increases the risk of stis. Open pores are also an infection risk.
Google it theres research on it.

titchy · 29/08/2018 20:09

With respect that's not quite the same is it. Open cuts from shaving certainly increase infection risk. But pubes themselves don't prevent infection.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 29/08/2018 20:09

Failing to see the correlation between going to the gym & the appearance of white pubes...
You do sound quite focused on appearance so you're naturally going to feel perturbed by this turn of events.
I had kids after 30 & am also very fit, I think you've got quite an odd impression of what keeps you healthy & looking young tbh.

adayatthebeach · 29/08/2018 20:19

Wow hope you never have something serious to worry about!

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 29/08/2018 20:22

I've got a bald patch.

Seriously, front and centre with hair around it going mental and growing down my legs.

c3pu · 29/08/2018 20:23

I'm bald, I'd cut off my right testicle for a full head of grey/white hair!

A few stray white pubes wouldn't worry me Grin

Thishatisnotmine · 29/08/2018 20:24

opaltree you pluck out your white eyelashes?!

I have a white eyebrow hair. It also sprouts out overnight as is instantly double the length of the others.

SaucyJack · 29/08/2018 20:24

Stop going to the gym. Put on four stone of belly fat.

You’ll never see your fanny again. Problem solved.

onetimeposter · 29/08/2018 21:03

Titchy thats not it.
Bacteria grow faster on shaved skin. So if any bacteria are in the area, eg chlamydia, they are more likely to infect us. Some trusts request no ahaving before procedures due to risk of bacterial infection.

Thank you for all your comments. I think I was having a moment and have calmed down somewhat! I choose to have pubic hair as I do not like the bald look and actually find it quite strange on grown adults. It's not out of control I keep it trimmed but agree that shaving and waxing can cause infection as well as an awful itch when it grows back! Shock

It goes bald on its own with age.....

WhiteDust · 29/08/2018 21:08

God help you when something actually worth worrying about happens!
I hope that this is a joke! Have you looked around you recently?

LakieLady · 29/08/2018 21:08

*I've got a bald patch.

My bush is reduced to a few sprigs these days. The indignities of age ...

Although I had a couple of grey hairs on my head at 16, I didn't get a grey pube until I was well into my 40s.

I found that strange.

Mummadeeze · 29/08/2018 21:09

I have barely any white hairs on my head but loads down there. I absolutely HATE them and totally understand how you feel. I never bikini waxed throughout my life but now I have them all removed every 4 weeks because I can’t bear seeing grey/white pubes. My Mum thinks I am being ridiculous but for me personally it is a self esteem thing and I would feel less desirable if I left them growing wild down there. Hats off to those of you who don’t care and turn a blind eye, but it does feel like a big deal to me. Am not ready to accept a grey muff yet on myself!

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 29/08/2018 21:11

I dye my eyelashes.

SuzieCath · 29/08/2018 21:13

Whitedust I am extremely greatful for the cards I have been delt and blessed for all of have including my health and family, and yes it was mearly a little humorous light hearted concern. I am fully aware of those that are worse off than me and my white pube (who I have become quite attached to Grin).

I don't have any grey pubes and got my first grey head hair at 49. My twin sister has had grey hair since her late 20's. I haven't enquired about her body hair.

WhiteDust · 29/08/2018 21:22

Thank goodness for that OP!
In that case, pluck it out Smile
YANBU to feel a bit Hmm.
Every new hair I grow seems to be grey at the moment. It's annoying.
