What sayings cringe you out? Mine just recently is 'making memories' I absolute cringe so hard when I see it all over Facebook and Instagram.

OP posts:

#feelingblessed gives me the dry heaves

BlueRoses28 · 27/08/2018 20:01

People on FB selling sites saying 'draws' instead of 'drawers' makes me so irrationally angry.

endofthelinefinally · 27/08/2018 20:02

Well I am glad we always focussed on making memories rather than accumulating stuff.
Memories are all I have left of my child.

Buxtonstill · 27/08/2018 20:06

#winningatlife. .....vom

queenworkerbee · 27/08/2018 20:08

#letthembelittle
#childhoodunplugged

Usually accompanied by a photo of a child doing everything kid things.

Also 'famlaaaaaa' and LUATWAM (love u all the world and more) Envy not envy

Any shite posted by a MLM hunbot

elliejjtiny · 27/08/2018 20:10

Totally agree on the making memories thing. That phrase should be used only in exceptional circumstances not when a healthy family goes to the park.

Wittow · 27/08/2018 20:11

i got lampooned last time i started a thread with this very subject. vom vom vom.

queenworkerbee · 27/08/2018 20:12

Oh one more 'going for omnomnoms' checking in at nandos

81Byerley · 27/08/2018 20:13

Furbaby...

My boss is 32, and thinks life is one big Disney film. Anything you eat looks ’yummy’, everything is awesome or amazing (said in a really gushing voice) she bounces into work in the morning and says ‘hi Gang’. She is a total sycophant. She’ll come up to you and say ‘oh I LOVE your watch’ . The one she has seen me wear every day for two years. If it’s not someone’s watch it’s their shoes/cardigan/bag that they have had for 5 years. She uses all the phrases on here, and rings up her friends and says ‘hello bestie’. She makes my teeth itch. Sorry for the rant on your thread, I have just spent the whole day listening to her gush over everything and everyone.

Buxtonstill · 27/08/2018 20:15

One of her fb status read “bestiememories’ . I have hidden her from my news feed.

HildaZelda · 27/08/2018 20:16

#mylittleprincess
#mylittleman

#fuckoffplease! Angry

Strokethefurrywall · 27/08/2018 20:17

I loathe all of that twee instagram shit. Which is why I'm not on instagram and its unfortunate that it seeps into every day life.

Fucking hashtags. Every single time I see #makingmemories, #thisone, #famalam, I want to shout WANKER at the screen. Actually, I do shout wanker. And then I defriend.

But I live in the Caribbean and my most hated wanker hashtag has to be #Ilivewhereyouvacation - have some fucking class for Gods sake, its so bloody braggy.

BellMcEnd · 27/08/2018 20:19

Any referral to “lil man” or “this one” eg “Having the bestest time with the lil man and this one” as an acquaintance posted last week as a caption to a trip to the local playground with a friend and her son.

Vom.

Agree that famalam is beyond the pale. Absolute twattery.

Caspiana · 27/08/2018 20:20

@ikbloo love you to the moon and back doesn’t make any sense per se, but it’s from a children’s book called “Guess how much I love you” and it’s quite sweet in context. Not that I’d ever use it myself, mind.

I don’t mind these sayings such as living my best life as long as they’re ironic and taking the piss, but all too often this is not the case sadly

BG2015 · 27/08/2018 20:25

Not a saying as such but I hate a colleague of mine that always posts

#myworld #mr&mrssurname after every photo.

Her marriage has been in trouble recently so I know it's all bollocks!!

clippityclop · 27/08/2018 20:25

Quality Time is another one that makes my teeth itch...

tentontruck · 27/08/2018 20:26

I agree with most of the above and will add #nofilter accompanied by a photo of some nice scenery which is basically just bragging about being on holiday somewhere lovely.

I've often been tempted to post a photo of some dog shit with all the hashtags #nofilter #makingmemories #lovethisone

HateSeafood · 27/08/2018 20:28

Basically all those picture quotes people post about how lucky we are to know them.

"If you can't handle me at my worst you don't deserve me at my best"

"I am me take me as I am because I won't change for you"

Fuck off Susan. Nobody gives a flying wank. I deleted Facebook months ago 👍🏻

backstreetboysareback · 27/08/2018 20:28

I don't understand what is cringe about making memories?
If you're spending time with your kids that is exactly what you're doing

looselegs · 27/08/2018 20:29

Hate 'making memories'. Why do people put that? Obviously I don't remember a thing about anything I di becsuse I don't write 'making memories' on all my social media posts. Also hate ' famalam' , 'hun' and ' dude' especially when its written by a 37 year old ....

cardibach · 27/08/2018 20:29

I think it’s unfair to blame it on instagram, Stroke. It’s rife everywhere and hashtags started 9n twitter 8 believe!
I find only having sensible people on my social media - actual friends who feel as I do about a lot of stuff - reduces my exposure.
Nomnom however seems to get everywhere and makes me want to punch someone.

dontbesillyhenry · 27/08/2018 20:30

I can't stand 'date night' personally

Usually used by those who sit opposite each other on their phone posting pics of their food/drink all night

Rory786 · 27/08/2018 20:31

Holibobs? That is just awful.

I hate the words: lush, hubby, and hun. Saw the word hunny on Fb and that’s even worse!

ILoveAllRainbows · 27/08/2018 20:32

Her marriage has been in trouble recently so I know it's all bollocks!!

That's exactly it. If she was genuinely happy, she wouldn't need to boast about how wonderful her life was.

It is only the unhappy people who use the terms like "making memories" becuase they are are trying to convince themselves and everyone around them that they have a perfect life.

They are living in a fantasy because the alternative is to face up to their miserable lives.
