What sayings cringe you out? Mine just recently is 'making memories' I absolute cringe so hard when I see it all over Facebook and Instagram.

The use of "gawjus lil madam" is a big offender. I have a cousin who insists on putting this along side pictures of her kid pulling modelling poses under hash tags such as pretty princess, gawjus girly, spoilt lil madam. Not needed

mishfish · 28/08/2018 09:17

I hate the whole ‘living my best life’ and ‘making memories’ Facebook and Instagram posts. I think it’s more my own insecurity though as currently we aren’t living our best lives or making memories. I think our kids are actually bored shitless as the last few years have been tough (setting up a business, taking endless exams, working working working), so we can hopefully have a good work life balance to give them a fun and memorable childhood from next summer (teenage mum so have spent the last 10 years working on improving my prospects!). Fingers crossed the worst of the grind is nearly over. I do get envious when I see it all, but then again- I don’t try to sell a trip to the park and local woods as something it isn’t either!

I think my favourite on Facebook, was when this young women I know had an indirect status bitching about someone who accused her of having an indirect status aimed at her... and how she wouldn’t give her the time of day/attention to dedicate a status to her....... sadly I don’t think she saw the irony of it all

ThunderR0ad78 · 28/08/2018 09:26

I saw a "Chester Draws" on sale on Facebook! Couldn't believe that one!

PenelopeThePufferfish · 28/08/2018 09:27

thunder

I can believe that! I had no idea what someone meant when they emailed me at work to say a visa application I needed to process was in her top draw. Eventually it dawned on me!

QueenOlives · 28/08/2018 09:43

Lil in any context. It's fucking little.

Even then, little is used annoyingly:

Little man / the little man - makes me nauseous.

My little girl/ my little boy - what's wrong with my daughter / my son ? If age is relevant say my 2 yo daughter. Little makes me mad.

Similarly Little one. Bleughhh

If followed by any hashtag it's million times worse.

Add on Instagram filters and I want to scream.

I'm doing online dating actively avoid anyone posting photos with Instagram filters. Are they 10?

pennyisafreeloader · 28/08/2018 09:43

Someone actually asked me why I hadn't congratulated my daughter on FB on her GCSE results....because we live in the same house and I told her how proud I was to her face! In person! 🙄

QueenOlives · 28/08/2018 09:54

Similar to the Chester draws thing - I belong to a number of selling groups on FB. I'm always surprised at how messy people present things for sale.

Said 'Chester Draws' covered in disorganised clutter, knickers hanging out of the drawers.

Selling a bed - at least make the fucking bed and move the dirty clothes off the floor!

Sorry, slightly off topic rant.

Everyoneiswingingit · 28/08/2018 10:02

Hun........

Everyoneiswingingit · 28/08/2018 10:04

Wishing your husband or partner a happy anniversary or happy birthday to your child or telling them you love them or 'loves them' on FB when you live in the same house.

LadyRussell · 28/08/2018 10:09

Also “my world”.

Just fuck off.

Everyoneiswingingit · 28/08/2018 10:37

Just recently 2 of my old FB 'friends' who were more acquaintances and work colleagues than genuine friends, split up with their DHs. I was gobsmacked because when I was on FB their feeds used to leave me feeling inadequate. Always checking in to places, weekend breaks, drinks and meals with couples and friends etc. It was built on sand though as they said they had been miserable for years!

ileftmylunchathome · 28/08/2018 11:05

@Tw1nsetAndPearls it's a public account. Anyone, anywhere can see it, as she posts it for all the world to see.

Aeroflotgirl · 28/08/2018 11:09

Yes, utterly hate the misspelling of words like gawjus, beaut etc

BibbityBobbityBollocks · 28/08/2018 11:34

I left fb about a year ago because tags like date night, nom, with my squad and a&e check ins with thirty million un-answered U ok Huns? made me irrationally ragey.
Just seemed like people had a need for constant validation.
I figured people have a right to post whatever they like and I was the one with the issue so I deleted it. I like people more now Grin.
That said I briefly tried Instagram and stopped when I had to sit on my hands to resist typing #pretentioustwat after someone posted a ridiculously filtered pictutre of a field with huge number of #, the last ones being mindfulness, living life and soul goals Hmm
I decided SM wasn't for me. #notaboutthatlife Grin #sorrynotsorry

wizzywig · 28/08/2018 11:39

Has a cheeky prosecco/ drink, bossbabe, smashing it, little man, sunday funday been mentioned yet?

Ignoramusgiganticus · 28/08/2018 11:44

I hate “people” eg “It’s Friyay people!!!!” Etc. Urgh.

I agree about the people but but I think the Friyay bit is quite clever. I've not heard that before. Or was it a typo? Blush

SerenDippitty · 28/08/2018 11:50

One of mine keeps saying “wiv da kidz”. You know, beach “wiv da kidz”, McDonalds “wiv da kidz” whatever,

9amTrain · 28/08/2018 12:20

@Tw1nsetAndPearls I agree and it's not even bad. I expected much worse. The hashtags are for the most part completely ordinary, if not a tad 'love my life' preachy.

LeighaJ · 28/08/2018 12:51

Anything with a # on it on FB. I just think "Oh do fuck off to Twitter with that BS please."

Slarti · 28/08/2018 12:52

My little girl/ my little boy - what's wrong with my daughter / my son ? If age is relevant say my 2 yo daughter. Little makes me mad.

Oh fgs, this is like the thread demanding people don't say "uni" all over again. You really need to get a grip. Biscuit

Biologifemini · 28/08/2018 12:55

Facebook is cringe all round.
I don’t want my mediocre life on line like this and I am surprised others do.

ChipsAndKetchup · 28/08/2018 13:16

@jarhead123 it's possible we have the same Facebook friend. Every Wednesday it's fucking hump day and it drives me mad!

Everyoneiswingingit · 28/08/2018 13:24

Pure vanity.

RomanyRoots · 28/08/2018 13:46

I hate people who moan about their fb "friends" on public forums.
I don't see any of these complaints because you know my friends are my friends, and I choose the word friend (fb) or otherwise wisely.
Goes to show how many people are so shallow they have to befriend people like this Grin

Mosret · 28/08/2018 13:55

"I just needed some me time" or even worse replace 'me' with your name "I just needed some Emma time, you know?" said with a small smile and a faraway look in your eyes. Bleugh😅
