In wanting to know the best amusement park in europe?

Posting here for traffic, sorry. Grin

We're coming to the UK in October and want to take ds to an amusement type park. He's a small 4 year old so I feel like Alton Towers etc will be lost on him.

Legoland I haven't been to in about 10 years but I wasn't that impressed.

I remember Efteling being incredible when I was his age, is it still amazing? I'm guessing flights to Holland would be cheapish.

Anywhere else incredible?

Paultons Park is brilliant.

bruffin · 26/08/2018 18:50

Eftling is still lovely, but we always drive there. dont think its easy to get to by plane.

Elzbells · 26/08/2018 18:55

Paultons Park is excellent and can be doubled up with a trip to Bournemouth Beach.

I've been every year for the last 5 at peak times, never had to queue longer than 10 mins, it's immaculate and lots of good rides.

ladyloopy · 26/08/2018 19:02

We were thinking of taking the Eurostar to Brussels. I think there's a train that goes there from Brussels.

Will look at Paulton now!

Alton Towers has CBeebies Land, Paultons Park is very good and has Peppa Pig World. Also highly recommend Legoland

ladyloopy · 26/08/2018 19:17

He's a bit over Peppa now. (Thank fuck Grin). He'll actually be 5 when we go.

He's massively in to dinosaurs and marine life at the moment.

Maybe I should give legoland another go. It's so sodding expensive though!

The Efteling is about £500 for the three of us to do 3 days in the park and two nights at the hotel. Sounds like a bloody bargain!!

Phantasialand near Cologne is my favourite. We visit this area a lot from the UK and it’s pretty cheap for flights. They have shows as well as rides, but I would check how much would be suitable for a 4 year old. We’ll be taking our boy when he’s old enough because it’s awesome! Wink

I’ve also heard great reports about Europa Park but I’ve never been.

RavenWings · 26/08/2018 19:18

I came in to say Europa Park is great, but probably not for a kid his age. One to do in the future, though!

Kewqueue · 26/08/2018 19:20

Paulton's Park has dinosaurs too - we don't bother with the Peppa Pig part - the rest is better imo.

curlycat · 26/08/2018 19:20

Port Aventuraon Salou
Fantastic for any age. My kids have been going since they were 2. 14 and 18 now and still love it
Sesame Street World for wee ones.
Fly to Reus or Barcelona

Lalliella · 26/08/2018 19:22

Gulliver’s in Milton Keynes is good for that age and there is a Dino park next door. MK has a bad press, but there’s tons to do there.

Boyskeepswinging · 26/08/2018 19:22

Europa Park in Germany is the best theme park in the world (and has won the Golden Ticket often enough to prove it). It would be absolutely magical for a small four year old but to be honest it's absolutely magical for any age and makes every other theme park look like amateur hour .. yes, Disney, that includes you ...

TeacherKS1 · 26/08/2018 19:23

If he's into dinosaurs, Blackgang chine on the Isle of Wight is great.

Boyskeepswinging · 26/08/2018 19:24

There's loads for little ones at Europa Park and even more now Ireland has opened.

ScottishInSwitzerland · 26/08/2018 19:24

Europapark is fab. If I were you I would look online just to double check height requirements for rides, if that’s important to you. But we first went when our youngest was 2 and she loved it. There’s way more than just rides.

fuckwitseverywhere · 26/08/2018 19:27

Drayton manor with Thomasland and a zoo is fab for under 5s

Ylvamoon · 26/08/2018 19:28

We've been Europe Park last year. There is plenty to do even for smaller children. They do have quite a few shows, family rides and of course the big roller coaster. It's reasonably easy to get to, if you are prepared to fly and take a hire car (Basel or Baden Airpark are within reach).
Or you could try public transport and stay at their resort.

bookmum08 · 26/08/2018 19:28

Gullivers is good for that age apparently (I haven't been) - there are several of them around the country. Personally I love Wickstead Park in Kettering , Northamtonshire. The second oldest theme park in the UK and has the first Water Shute ride made and still in use (from 1924 ish).

ionising · 26/08/2018 19:30

My dd loved Efteling at age 6. We stayed in a themed room done up like a theatre.

We went to Europa the year afterwards. Dhe was tall at 7 so fit a lot of rides. We stayed in the colosseum where if you looked out of the window there was a circus going on every so often. It was brilliant.

I would choose Efteling for age 4 though but Europa better over all.

ionising · 26/08/2018 19:32

Eftling is still lovely, but we always drive there. dont think its easy to get to by plane.

We got the train and a bus. Not totally straight field but still pretty easy, everyone was so helpful.

ladyloopy · 26/08/2018 19:33

So many brilliant suggestions!

I'm getting SO excited!

DH wanted to go to Disney but even coming from the US it's still really expensive.

Duinrell in Holland. Hardly any queues and cheap to stay on site.

Horridhenry88 · 26/08/2018 19:34

Lego land Denmark is much better than UK. Hardy any queues.

ladyloopy · 26/08/2018 19:35

I don't want to drive in Europe. I get confused with different road signs. Blush They drive on the right though so I guess ds could drive. The Eurostar from London must be pretty easy though? It says they have a bus that goes from the station in Brussels straight there..

Disney Paris. We went in april we did coach it was £219 for adults that included coach & ferry park admission 3 nights in hotel just outside Paris. The coach takes you to Disney and picks you back up. You can have 2 days at disney or 1 day there and 1 day around Paris. It was amazing to be honest and by far the cheapest way of doing it. Hope wherever you go you fab time Smile
