To hate birthdays

Its my birthday. I want it to be tomorrow.

I have to pretend to be happy - not that im not happy but you know what i mean.

Im torn between hoping dp didnt spend too much or spent nothing. Some years i get spoilt others not even a card. I think this might be an inbetween year. Inbetween is better.

I have the day off work but cant decide what to do with it. Will need to spend it with dp and dd2. I dont get paid til next week so loathe to spend out.

Cant i just stay in bed with my dogs?

Im the birthday grinch

Mine's today and I feel quite contented. Technically I'm now 69, but I can't face telling people that in case they smirk, so I'm doing 68 again and will leap into 70 this time next year.

I hate my birthday too. I've never been into birthday nights out and big celebrations, and just feel 'shit, another year older'.

Glad it turned out OK. I am one for low key birthdays, though usually am on holiday as mine is in July.

I feel the same. I hate the pressure to do something, that it is my special day.

I was going to say do what you like with it, but I see you have! Make your expectations clear.
As regards Christmas. One day your DCs will be old enough that you can do the same with that. I refuse to Christmas this year, at least in a traditional sense. I shall be doing my own thing (in agreement with, and at times the company of, my DD(22)).
